Unusual pre delivery inspection?

Unusual pre delivery inspection?
Hi all! My girlfriend is about to take delivery of a 2012 Fit Sport manual in a few weeks. When getting pricing info, the dealer in North Carolina mentioned that the car would have at least 10 miles on it before she can take delivery, because their dealership requires that all cars are thoroughly tested by taking the car out on the street and highway. I am not aware of any other dealers requiring this as a part of pdi. Is this something that anyone else has experienced? I would think the standard pdi is good enough and anything that gets missed is covered by the warranty.
Maybe I am over reacting, but I think 10 miles is unnecessary. Thoughts?

10 is a bit high, but the PDI does involve some driving. For an example
10 really isn't excessive.

Make sure the steering wheel is straight whendriving straight ahead, and the vehicle trackswithout drift or pull on level roads.NOTE: If the vehicle drifts or pulls, do this:•Find a straight, level stretch of four-lane roadwhere you can safely and legally go
60 mph
forseveral minutes.•While driving at
60 mph
, use a stopwatch tomeasure the time it takes to drift from the middleof one lane to the middle of the next lane. Notethe time.•Do this again going the opposite direction tocancel the effect of wind, then average the twotimes.-If it takes
less than 6 seconds
to drift from themiddle of one lane to the middle of the next, note this on the repair order to check the wheelalignment.-If it takes
more than 6 seconds
to drift fromthe middle of one lane to the middle of thenext, the wheel alignment is OK.

You know,
the more you stress about something like this, the more you are casting black voodoo magic on yourself.
Just like how it will rain once you wash/wax your car. If you obsess over having more than 10 predelivery miles-especially if you take it to the degree to reject the car that was fated to you; you are destined by karma to get a scratch or ding/rockchip on your replacement car perhaps immediately on your drive home, or I guarantee within 1week.
Anything under 50 to even 100 (with dealer explanation) on the odo is fine.

Ours/mine, wife's the one with the $$$, had less that 3 miles on it. I hammed the thing for the first 10, spending time on decel while holding the chosen gear. ring seal's important. drive it like you stole it. Wifes Fit has 115,000 on her, no issues.

When I bought a Nissan, it seemed to me that they used the new cars for test drives, so that rather than devalue one car by using it as a test drive car, they put a few miles on different cars and sold them all as new. What was worse was the car I test drove had almost no gas in it and the fuel light was on.
When I took delivery my car had something like 23 miles on it, which really bothered me.

I've been shopping new cars for several months. It's common for dealers to let people do over-night test drives. I took a brand new Mazdaspeed3 with 4 miles on it for a test drive and the salesman was trying to get me to stomp on it, but I told him I didn't want to (and did not) because it's a brand new vehicle and you're not supposed to do that with a fresh engine. They don't care, they just want to sell the car.
Honestly though, being a Honda FIT, I wouldn't worry about it. Nobody is going for a joy ride in a 117HP car. If it were a performance car, I would probably be sceptical. 10 miles is nothing, it will be fine.

mine had 220 miles on it when I picked it up. I ordered a 2012 back in september 2011. Then in november they told me it came in and he said 'just so ya know it has 220 miles because it came from another dealership' I was like huh?? When I got in the average fuel economy said 41mpg so atleast I know he wasn't beating the piss out of it. Back to your situation, I would rather take the car with 9 miles knowing a certified honda tech gave the ok on the engine and transmission than take it with 0miles and take a chance of having a problem and not knowing until it gets worse..
