Question I cannot find a lower billet grill for a 2012.

I have searched for hours looking for a lower billet grill that will fit my new 2012 Fit Base (US Model). I thought I had it narrowed down to something like this:

https://www.trucktastic.com/2007-201...s-h67127a.html

but then I noticed that the opening in the lower grill is different from the model shown. Here's what mine looks like:

http://www.members.shaw.ca/christina...Fit/Fit_20.JPG

Notice the little fins that extend outside the opening, and that the top opening is slightly larger than the lower opening. So even a split grill like this model will not work:

Anything Billet Honda Fit Chrome Billet Grill (bottom only) 2009-2010, Unique Auto Mall

Is my only option the Home Depot DIY route?

That first link is for a GD, which is the first generation Fit.

You have a GE, or second generation Fit... more specifically, the Base trim. And that third link is the second gen, Sport trim (pre-2012).

But where can I find a billet grill to fit mine? I have been unable to find anything specific to the 2012 GE (I think 2011 is the same grill).

which portion? are you looking for the top or lower portion? because your top portion where the "H" emblem is, is completely different from a '11.

also im sorry to burst your bubble, but i'd highly doubt you'd find anything made specifically for the base.

It would be the lower portion.

Are you sure about the difference in the upper grill? The Honda eStore shows both 2011 and 2012 use grill 71121-TK6-A01.

i'm not sure about the base. does your grill touch your headlights? if not then i guess it might work. i know for a fact though that the sport has a different grille.

Contact the eBay vendor "Mr. Grille" (I think that his user name on eBay is "wee12" if my memory is right. I believe that you can get a phone number for "Mr. Grille" in the town of Norco in So. Calif.

As the other members have said, if the lower grille of a 2012 Base is different from the Sport, then a grille overlay made for the Sport won't fit. Mr. Grille makes the best quality and fit billet grilles, and I bought one of his for my '09 Sport the first week I had the car.

I have no clue why no one here pointed you in [at least] the direction of Zeta Products... I would say EVERYONE knows about Zeta.

There are others...

I don't know where you've been searching for hours. But I got a new computer, hadn't transferred my bookmarks, so I had to search for Zeta's site. I typed "billet grille - Honda Fit" in Google and it appears lots of candidates popped up, including the Zeta products link.

Maybe sharpen those search skills a bit? I found those links in about 5 seconds!

Don't know if it helps, but if so, enjoy!

I just remebered Zeta Products, and came back to edit my last post! Nice call! Angelo Marzullo runs Zeta, and if you call him, you can probably get the fitment info. that you need.

Yeah... I have no clue about the base model. It couldn't be that much different from the Sport lower grille, or is it?

Maybe even get one for the Sport and modify it? I've attempted fabricating more difficult items in the past than a billet grille.

Ah well... that's why I was saying I hope my links helped in some way.

Just a head up in regards to the SES grille. I asked SES customer service and was told it won't work with 2012.

Well, that certainly answers the fitment question for those of us who NEVER see a base model Fit, 2012 or otherwise. Thanks for the info. The Sport outsells the Base to the extent that makers of such things as billet grilles probably will not bother to make them to fit the Base.

To the OP, I suggest that you try to find some sort of perforated aluminnum sheet stock at local metal recycling center or metal scrap yard, or look on www.jcwhitney.com to see if they still sell the perforated grille guards that were mentioned in one of several of the a/c condenser protection threads on the forums. I am disappointed for you that the Base is such an odd animal that no one makes grille overlay protection for your car.

I would strongly suggest that you ignore the "Home Depot Plastic Gutter Guard" posts. My experience with this material on my house is that it becomes brittle and warps in a short time. Maybe it would still keep rocks from punching holes in your a/c condenser, but I would bet on metal instead. Good luck!

Yes, the entire problem has been that the Base model has a different lower grill opening than the Sport due to the lack of fog lights.

I'll have to go the DIY mesh screen. I would never use plastic, that's just silly. One rock and it would shatter.

Thanks for all the info!
