Honda says "no"/I say "yes" warranty issue
#102
This note is in the TSB list. I haven't been able to copy it.
"*NOTE*: It looks like Honda is blocking downloads of the TSB off their site, so all the PDF links below do not work. I don't know if this is a temporary issue or permanent..."
"Did Honda change anything in the interior in that area since the 2009 model? I know fabric changed, but was the area for elbow padded more?"
Susan, I don't know if any changes have been made, but my 2011 had a crack/split with a little over 6k miles so I suspect no changes were made. As I mentioned in my other post mine was replaced by our local dealer. I described problem, they looked and informed me they were ordering the door panel. Arrived in less than a week. No hassle.

I had a great rep at Honda Customer Service who's hands really were tied by the dealer and those above him. He said that Honda said they fixed the problem after 2009, which is why it was up to the dealer. He didn't specify what they did. Obviously not a lot.

You can access the TSB by just clicking the main link in the list, not the PDF link -- it'll send you to scribd instead where there is a download link.

I doubt Susan can answer that question, since the dealer gave you the answer. You'll have to check with them. Take a printout of TSB to dealer. The covered VIN numbers are listed. That may help.

You're not going to believe this, but my new door cracked after 500 miles. I took it off and used epoxy this time which only lasted a week before the crack opened again. Didn't even bother dealing w/ Honda this time. I figure Honda will for sure say that it's a personal thing I'm doing to the door, and I can't say I'd blame them. Maybe I have extra sharp elbows? Oh well, you get what you pay for and my elbows will pay off w/ my Muay Thai

There are two sequences... based on the plant the Fit came from. Suzuka or Sayama.

I'd be cutting out the area and fabricating an armrest. Something with padding so the plastic doesn't have to flex.
You can buy the door panels for about $200 if it doesn't work out.

It's basically a piece of plywood/mdf padded & wrapped in fabric/leather.
