If you were to blindly add in $500 on top of invoice that puts you at $16,065, which is OVER MSRP. I suggest to my thousands of students that you do not pay over MSRP. That's completely ludicrous. As I mentioned earlier, I paid $15,560. The dealer is still making money, especially if you throw in honda-to-dealer incentives etc that aren't generally disclosed. Generally the starting point for negotiations is considered to be Invoice + $0. And dogofyourdreams got some sort of screaming deal somehow.
You are correct; I should have said maximum profit over invoice for a reasonable purchase. However, it must be said that when a popular car is in short supply that number will grow. Its a case of bidding against other buyers. Worse, those 'behind-the-scene' discounts and marketing cmons will affect just what the dealer cost is. That naturally is what you don't know so you should start low because the sales force has been taught to start high.

Truer words have never been written!!

Okay, time to spend some more dollars on the new baby. Weathertech (sp?) mats are on the way. More goodies today! Yesterday, I purchased an "Earth Wind and Fire" CD for my wife. She grew up on that music, I did not. Surprised her with it this morning when I said "You have to look at something important on the car." Ha! She was dancing around the driveway in her bathrobe. Not to worry, the neighbors already know we're odd. Life is good, and certainly beats heck out of the only alternative.
