Trading my Escape for Fit..couple of questions
#42
the focus is a decent car, but the Made in Mexico part would turn me away from buying ford.
plus also the rapid depreciation of ford and american vehicles.
The Fit is still made in Japan for the US...
also if you live in Canada, there is no 2012 fit sports at the dealers yet, only the base models. I bought my 2012 fit sport in California

my dealer had 3 different manual Sports on the lot plus a few automatics.

I'm sorry... I hope to never meet some of you folks in "IRL."
I don't give a hoot if the Ford is made in Mexico... the reason I won't buy a Ford is because of its past reputation, and it's current isn't much better in my eyes. The last Ford I wanted to buy, was an Escape... it turned out to be just as unreliable as Ford's reputation (as my friend owning one proved). I drove a Ford Taurus Wagon and Escort Hatchback. Both required lots of maintenance... but I forgave them for it, because they were bought very used.
If my Fit had been made in Mexico or China, I still would've bought it. I buy it because of the Honda name on it, not where it was made.
If the Fit, or Honda in general had become unreliable, then I wouldn't have bought it.
There's a saying, and maybe it's not completely applicable... but it goes:
Once bitten (or burned), twice shy.
So, until Honda, in concert with manufacturing in China is proven unreliable... all this talk is non-sense.
