What's wrong with me? Stop me from buying a Prius Plug In.

I saw a Nissan Leaf last night. It was parked at the charging station at a local store. Not my cup of tea but maybe yours.
BTW I also follow the bogleheads financial forum and highly recommend it. In fact that is where I first learned of the Fit, a very bogleheadish car (financially smart).

Just continue your payments on the Fit and wait for the FCX Clarity. Just kidding. Doing the math, buying a cheaper more economical car is better than buying a Prius. However, if you can afford it then go for it.

If you're truly eco, buy a bicycle and live near to where you work.
If you want tech - there's a gazillion gadgets out there.
But for us that want a real car, all these stupid tech is really a sad evolution. The internal combustion engine is an amazing invention... that no electric vehicle will ever be able to replicate. Torque curves, high RPMs, sound, etc has some soul to it... that sterile one speed super efficient ultra quiet electric motors totally lack.
Buy a stick shift, forget all the tech, and then you can really have some fun - in a car. The 3rd pedal and knowing how to parallel park is way more satisfying than letting the car do everything for you with its make everyone into dummies tech.
Sorry to go of on a rant - just some food for thought though. A car is best when enjoyed by the driving experience, but I guess if you want an ultra sterile appliance to get from point A to point B, go ahead and get that Prius plug-in hybrid.

So I'm guessing most dealers will be able to mark the Prius c to 21 or 22

I agree about having less tech in cars. I'm all about driving stick and having fun driving. I'd rather spend more money on performance than blue tooth, I pod compatibility, or navigation screens.

you have to drive a lot to justify the $40,000 on a prius to justify the cost, most cabs in the city I live in are now Prius's. They probably drive over a 600-1000 miles a week. which would justfiy that, but I mean the fit is amazing on fuel, i'm extremely impressed and it does rival hybrids for mpg and it's a lot cheaper in price.
The lexus HS 250 is nothing more then an expensive corolla, i'd stay away from that car.
The 09-11 Fit is a top rated car for economy and reliability is off the charts.
The road noise on the highway i found to be a bit more then normal, hope they improved on that in the 2012's.
I find it hard to believe the Mazda 3 gets better fuel mileage then the honda fit, mazda reliability is also well below average, just like the ford focus.
February 2012 consumer reports rate the fit as the best overall buy for reliability, economical and cost/mile.
The fit is definitely not a luxury car, it's basically a well designed and very reliable economy car with an extremely high practical and utilitarian value.

The HS comment made me chuckle. I've had the HS for 2 years now, will get rid of it at the 3 year mark for something else but it's nothing like a Corolla. But I guess this is an old arguement from when the HS first came out. A Fiero looks like a Ferrari, so a Ferrair must suck too..

Can't say I'll ever understand anyone that buys the HS - the ES is such a better car, and costs less. HS is just plain sad/ugly looking... if you want a hybrid Lexus, the CT is so much more bang for the buck, and looks nice too.

Looks is subjective, so I'll move on from there. I chose the HS over the ES for a couple of reasons. Besides a lot of women driving the ES and RX. I chose it for the tech... no other car in the Lexus line up at the time except the RX and even now has the HUD, Dynamic criuse control, Pre-collision, Navi with mouse, etc, etc.. I do admit the mileage at 35mpg is just average for a hybrid but I got it for the tech not because it was a hybrid.

Since money doesn't seem to be an issue for you - did you look at Audi or MB or BMW? You just said you didn't get the HS for the hybrid, so why not get a nice Audi/MB/BMW with all the tech goodies? And those cars aren't ugly looking like the HS.
