Has someone with an 09-11 driven a '12 yet?

I used to own a 2010 about a year ago and just bought the 2012. One of the first things I noticed when driving it was how much quieter it seemed to be. I didn't know they are more sound deadening material in it until I looked it up afterwards. Are you looking to upgrade just for the quieter ride?

I live way out in Paulding county. We bought our Fit from Team Honda in Lithia Springs. See Lynn Ossie there. Terrific salesperson.

I've got a guy on call that I can just give him the word and he'll order whatever I want no deposit needed. This would be my fourth car from him at Honda Carland. Always have the car serviced there, too.

Very nice! Good luck with your hunt, but stick with the Fit.

Another 99-04 Mustang (this would be #7 of that exact generation), a 2012 Fit Sport manual, a Scion FR-S depending on how they drive and if I actually fit in one--6'3" and 34" inseam, or a 6-speed FJ Cruiser. Yeah, I'm all over the place, I know. This will be car #20.

I bought the 2012 soley because of the quietness
Well actually I love everything about the 2nd Gen Fit, but my wife was so sick of riding in my loud Prelude that she imediately rulled out a used 09 Fit after the test drive. We then learned about the extra sound insulation in the 2012 Fit and were very impressed with the test drive. We were about the buy a pretty smooth and quite Scion XB auto, but decided that for a little bit more money we could get better mileage, more fun drive (manual), better build quality, and an even quieter ride in the new Fit. So we bought one a few days ago and love it!

a of people complained about the road noise on the fit and they added extra insulation in the 2012 model. I haven't driven one yet.
I will be getting one in a few month.
I will get a raspberry blue 2012 Fit sport Auto, the manual is louder, higher RPMS, and the 5spd Automatic is better on fuel.

my two were automatics, i do know that >3500rpm there is a good amount of engine noise ... and i think you might be in that range with a manual ... you won't be with an automatic unless you are going up a grade or something.
regarding general noise, it's hard to say because i haven't been able to go back and forth as i traded the old one in, i will say that it definitely seems quieter but there is definitely still noise on the freeway. one thing my new fit has that the old one didn't was the cargo tray ... i think this helps alot. i did drive my '10 for awhile without the tailgate door panel and the road noise was much more intense so it makes sense that a cargo tray would help in addition. if your current fit doesn't have one it is worth trying.
if the '10 fit was a 10 on the noisy scale, i would say the '12 is a 8, i notice on trips i don't have to turn the radio up quite so loud anymore.
i guess what i'm trying to say is that if the road noise alone is enough to make you wan't a different car ... there are probably much quieter cars to choose from even if the '12 is quieter. it would seem like alot of money to spend for a potentially smallish change.

BTW, I picked up my 2012 OBM M/T last night - really like the color!

I almost didn't buy a Fit because the 09 automatic we test drove was too loud for my wife (she's been riding in my old prelude for years and didn't want that again). The dealer mentioned doing an underbody spray coating and dyna-mats in the wheel wells to silence road noise for a few hundred bucks. Another dealer mentioned the same thing when we tested a 2012 Fit, but it was already quieter than the 09 Scion XB we tested earlier. We bought that Fit a few days ago and I doubt we'd really add any more sound insulation.

Blue, you really want a manual transmission in Atlanta's traffic? A relative of mine lives there, and I thought New York's traffic was bad. My God.
As long as I can afford it, I will never have a manual transmission again. The annoyance of having to work a clutch in never-ending traffic far outweighs the few bucks I would save in mileage over the automatic.

Atlanta has horrible traffic most of the time.
