Sucks, but did you even bother to take a look at Blue Book trade in value? You should have gotten prob somewhere between 9100 and 9700 for it. Don't expect dealerships to just give you free money... you gotta do your due diligence.

Since it's tied up for more than a day they call Avis for cars rather than give loaners. Hopefully they are confident enough in their cars that this doesn't worry them

The Elantra is very nice, but it is very, well, "rental". Kind of like a Chevy Malibu or Toyota Corolla. Nice, unoffensive, bland car that is perfect for airport rental or 80 year old ladies going to the Catholic Women's League meeting. I wouldn't buy it.....but Hyundai has made huge strides since the 1986 Stellar than my cousin drove was their "Flagship" model.

I had a Dodge Caravan rental when I had my Odyssey in for the Torque converter replacement a few years ago. Made me realize the Ody was worth the extra $$, that's for sure!!!

Around here at least dealerships only use KBB to price their used cars, they go by current auction prices for trade in value.

On another note, the 2012 Elantra rental (courtesy of Ford?!?!?!) I have is pretty nice...too bad no hatch available on that.
