2012 Sport Silver Joins the Fleet
Just some basic pics, picked it up yesterday morning after waiting about 6 weeks for the dealership to get it in stock. Really dig it so far, averaging 40+mpg so far.

congrats looks nice in silver
Do you have the MT or Auto transmission and what kind of driving do you do?
I have a 12' Sport MT and I get about 30 in the city and 35 on the highway going about 75MPH… I cant get 40 no matter what I do..
Tried going 60 on the freeway but I still only get 37
Congrats and welcome to the forum

I did take the 240z out and ripped around a little today.
Also ordered the Silverstar Ultra 9003 and H11s today, and that should complete my mods. Looks like the 2012 headlights are easy to access from the engine bay (my goodness it's a tiny little motor)...I guess the fogs you access under the front splash guard or you pop the cover off the fog light housing and there is a screw under there that will release the whole unit to swap them?
By the way, GAFIT, did you notice my UGA flag in the garage? Class of 99, I grew up in Stone Mountain/Lithonia area.

I didn't notice that...small world. Don't know if you are familiar with the GA mountains, but I live just outside Helen and am close to the best roads in the SE.
We took the front bumper off and headlights out to work on ours (installed HID's for both) so I'm not sure how the access is with the lights on the car.

Congrats and welcome to the crew. I had to wait 3 weeks for mine, the MTs were hard to get for some reason. I've been getting 31.5 mpg around town, and that's not being gentile, that little engine loves to be wound out

The '12 looks really good stock, better than my '09 in my opinion. I don't like chrome so the headlight housing being black makes it 10x better, and the darker wheels to match.
OP, nice datsun. =)

So the last 2 days, the Fit saw it's first hill climbs, extensive twisty-turny, and some 70mph interstate driving (everything around me is 55mph).
Comparing to our 2011 Mazda3 5-door, it handled all the climbs just fine. Granted, usually the Mazda is also hauling my wife, both our dogs, and luggage for a weekend in Sacramento, the Fit was just me. It pulled all the hills just fine in the same gears I would have used in the Mazda. I'm sure the 3 would win a drag race, but the Fit didn't feel short of power getting up and down the hills. Both handle really well (this Mazda weighs a bit more than the 09 we had before, so it feels more "luxurious" in the corners). I'd say the Fit and 3 are equally FUN to drive. The Fit controls it's descent really well with lower gears, I didn't need to use the brakes as much.
On the freeway, the expected higher RPMs, I guess about 3700-3800 compared to 2800 or so for the 3. I never drove/rode in another model year at that speed, but I'd have to say if cabin noise was a complaint, the 2012 upgrades must have addressed it. You could hear the engine if it was under load, but with the stereo on, it didn't seem much louder than the 3. Engine computer showed me at 38.5 mpg average for the trip, 10 better than we manage in the 3. Yesterday was a little windy on the interstate so the lightweight nature of the car showed itself somewhat, but quite manageable.
Overall, I'd say for the hills and twisty roads, I'd probably give the Fit and edge JUST because they are both equally fun, but you save a lot more fuel in the Fit. For the highway on a longer road trip (3+ hours), I'd probably still lean toward the 3 for the extra comfort features, the weight keeps you feeling a little more planted, and highway cruising at lower RPMs will at least get you around 30.5 MPG.
At about 280 miles, really digging the car so far. Hoping my Silverstar Ultras arrive today!

The Z is actually a 71 240z...it has a 280z motor that's been built up to a 2.9L Longrod by Rebello Racing. Also has a late ZX 5-speed and larger R200 rear end. I love the sound of that straight 6, it's a great, great car. I bought it from a friend of a friend who pampered it for the last few decades.

Micven, looks good! I live near Saratoga Springs and looking to week of Dec. 5 for delivery of my own OBM Sport M/T. I ordered it on Oct 3, so it's been a while in the making and shipping. Meanwhile I'm driving my son's 2009 Silver Sport M/T while he's away at college. Great little car - can't wait to get my own!!

Good luck with your new Fit! That silver is a great color. I bought a used 2009 Silver M/T Fit for my son this past Sept. It was in good shape but after I gave it the clay bar and wax treatment it really sparkled: I recommend it highly - happy motoring!

Cool, you finally got it huh! Looks sharp! Now you can stick more cases of wine in there (sealed bottles of course ) with your dogs and the wifey... with room left over. Happy motoring!
