2012: What is everyone paying?
#161
Congrats all!
@ladylockness -
The tray seems to be on clearance - I noticed Bernardi was selling them at a discount so I guess they are putting them out there weather you ask for them or not (I only asked for Door Vents and Ambient Lighting) Bernardi seems to be a good place to hit if you want OEM parts and accessories for DYI. I'm planning on picking up the Arm Rest, Rear Bumper Applique, Leather selector and side body moldings over the next few months

car price = $15,377 (total including delivery charge)
document fee = $80 (CA doc fee is capped at $85, average is $50)
New 2012 Honda Fit Base, manual transmission, silver. No accessories, no trade-in, no financing (cash sale) in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Taxes and DMV fees brought the total to $16987.87 OTD, but taxes and DMV fees vary significantly depending on the locale, so the OTD price is kind of meaningless to someone living outside of California.
I did the deal over a couple of e-mails with the internet sales rep. The original internet quote was about $300 higher. I proposed $15,377 pointing out that my proposal was equal to the KBB Fair Purchase Price. The sales rep responded with an e-mail that he would sell the car at that price, I accepted his offer via e-mail, and I dropped by the dealership after work to do the paperwork. Total time at the dealer was about 1-1.5 hours including about 15 minutes spent trying to decide between white and silver.

Price Paid for 2012 Honda Fit Sport in Denver
Just came home with my brand new 2012 Honda Fit Sport A/T and immediately started wondering if I should have negotiated harder on the price, let me know what you think.
Selling Price: $18500.00
Dealer Installed Accessories: $49.95 Nitrogen in the tires (we laughed about this since once you buy any Fit, even without this option, this dealer offered to provide it free for life)
Delivery and Handling: $495.00
Sales tax for Denver CO: $1451.22
Title Fee: $27.20
Total other charges paid on your behalf (credit report): $27.20
Standard 3 year limited warranty, standard 5 year on the drive train.
Got them to throw in the all weather floor mats too.
Total OTD: $20550.57
Edmunds listed the target sales price for my area at $18640.00

Given 2013 models are now being shipped, dealers should be offering steep discounts on 2012 models. So I would think any Fit model could be purchased for somewhere between invoice and the Fair Purchase Price.
Nitrogen in the tires is silly. Cars have been rolling around for more than 100 years with regular air in the tires. Just another dealer gimmick to mark up the price. I would walk out of any dealership that tried to pull that kind of snow job on customers.

I guess no one has bought a '12 in the last two months? Or maybe there's another thread I've overlooked.
I just got a 2012 Base M/T for 16.9k OTD in Florida.
It's polished metal and my first manual car; having lots of fun so far.

I bought a 2012 Fit Sport M/T polished metallic a week ago. I paid $17198 + sales tax + fees (transferred my old plates). I traded my Subaru Outback 2006 with 45000 miles for $10000.
I am financing $7198 for 48 months and my APR is 2.24%. APR on our Si was 0.9%.

2012 Fit Sport MT in Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin orange
Was looking at Crosstours and CR-V's. There was this lonely orange '12 Fit Sport on sale. Closed the deal @ $16.5k less $1k for my dying '95 Contour + TTL. I probably could have held out for another $250-$500 but I'm not so inclined to squeeze out every last dime. FWIW's I managed a 2.25% 60 month rate out of the dealer, but again, if I wanted to maximize value, would have opened an account at penfed.org for a 1.49% 60 month loan. Wish I knew about penfed before I refied my house.
I do find it surprising that you can buy a new car for pretty much what dealers are selling used cars for.
And for those looking to purchase here's what my dealer admitted to.
Invoice, $17,397 - exactly what Edmunds states, just a coincidence I'm sure - I'd figure take off ~$1k for the true invoice.
Holdback, $341.04
Trade-in, gave me an additional $300 over wholesale, though Edmunds says only $50. All good, since my trade-in is a ticking bomb.

What can I say? Read that Honda was offering a 36 month lease for $280 with $0, $0, $0, for the '12 LX Crosstour. Only after driving one, did I understand why. Why would Honda design and build a car that cannot be backed up without mirrors that pivot downward when the transmission is in reverse and a rear view camera that IS needed is beyond me? If I want a Kenworth I would buy one. That and there's really no space to haul anything between the strut pillars in the rear. And did I mention the Crosstour is one BIG car yet the Fit has about 20 cu ft more cargo capacity than the Crosstour with the rear seats folded down.

Funny, that's the exact dollar amount I paid for my Milano Red '12 Sport M/T at the end of October. No trade and I brought in my own (1.9%) financing at a dealer in Pennsylvania, after NY tax and two registrations (NY and temporary PA) it was around 18.4k.
