Tire fitting

Howdy All
I have been loving my '11 Fit Sport.
But I have read the threads about the stock Dunlops, and have had my own experience with them (the less said the better ((thumbs down))). Anyway
I have decided on the next set already as the Continental DWSs, but I am wondering if 205/50/16 will fit on the stock sport rims with no ill effects (rubbing etc..) or would the 195/50/16 be better?
I have used the miata tire size calculator (neat!)
and it seems that the 205/50s are the better match.
Just gathering info for now, all help/opinions appreciated.
Thanks
Frank

Tire size calculator
The Tire size calculator is a great too. I've used it for all of my cars when buying new tires. Another great tool for finding more info like this is the search box at the top. This, oil change, HID, & Other Threads have been discussed to death so there is tons of great info out there without much effort. they also discuss specific tires such as the DWS which you may be interested as well.

SB makes a good point, searching on freakworld is unlike any other search... here's a start for you:

A recent thread: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/1st-...5-55-15-a.html

The last page of the official 'Sticky' of all tire questions. Work your way back: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...stions-50.html

I'm most likely going with the Conti DWS - size 205-50R16 I've gotten close to 30K on the stock Dun's and a bit more to go, but with winter closing in I'm going to replace them now. I have no real issue with the Dun's - hated at first. Once they broke in they turned out to be a fairly decent tire.

Yep, I went with 205/50/16 on my stock 2009 Sport rims (http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13175792294991) and they have had no issues at all. My mpg went down by 1-2 though.

Check this thread for more discussion: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...k-16-inch.html

Thanks All,
I had done some "google-fu" with search, but obviously not enough.

205/50/16 is the way to go! i just put on Falken-912's on my stock sport wheels about a month ago, and difference was night/day, and also looks a little beefier! YUM

Not sure what your question is here. The tire size calc compares two different sized tires (your oem size and a different size you are looking into) to see if the new size is a good match so that you retain the same(or close) overall diameter.

for the fit 205/50 is an almost identical match. 195/55 is good but rides about 5.5 mm higher than stock. - again, not a big deal, especially if the tires are lighter than the oem ones.

Check out the Tire calculator above That will allow you to mix and match.
Put the OEM tire size in the first set of boxes, then adjust the 2nd set (keeping the last one 16 for the wheel diameter if you are retaining the wheels)

205/50 is a little wider but no rubbing issues whatsoever. It is an almost identical match for the sidewall and overall height. No speedo change issues either. You can find a better tire at a better price than the stock size.

Actually, what I noticed was... with stock tires, my speedometer was off when compared with the speed on the GPS. Even though it was only slight, the speedo would read higher than the GPS.

With the 205/50s I have on there now, they match.
