Wish I bought a prius or smart - the fit is a slow pos.

Shifting too soon? I drive a Base 5MT and I wouldn't say it was that slow (not fast by any means but still). It is definitely faster than either my old civic (which was in need of a tuneup) or my Subaru outback.
Yeah, just looked it up. A 5MT fit was clocked at 8.9 0-60, some versions of the Prius have been clocked at 9.7 and the Smart Four Two is over 12.

You have to rev like you are trying to kill it.... Stay in the the upward part of the power band, learn at what RPM or speed that the rev limiter is activated and shift as close to hitting it as possible... Hondas love to rev, you won't break it by taking it to red line and you won't be left behind by either a Prius or Smart car....

These types of threads are getting old. It surely looks like trolling to me.
Racing on public roads is against the law and is dangerous to those involved and other innocent motorists and pedestrians.
If you want to race then take it to the track.
The Fit is a great enjoyable car to drive. I don't need to race around to appreciate my Fit.

One of the coolest things about a stock Fit is that you can race other cars that are also low on power to the legal speed limit and no none is even aware that anything out of the ordinary is going on...

i now dont really care how slow my fit is in a straight line... as a matter of fact i never really cared.
my fit can go through corners like nobody's bidness and i beat cars 3 to 5 times the fits price on exit ramps and highway switch ramps.

I use to outrun Mustangs and BMW's in my 1999 Outback... It had to be raining though.

comment?
MM section of owner's manual
Code:
C 0 - Fit not meant for racing
C 1 - if racing itch attacks, go to track
C 3 - if beaten by Prius, Smart car, replace driver
C 4 - irreconcilable differences, part with the car

If I lived in Germany, maybe I would want a more powerful car. But hey, this is America.... land of the 55mph speed limit. My Fit handles great in turns and accelerates adequately. And it has no problems achieving whatever the legal maximum speed limit is.

It's Captain Obvious....

How do you lose to a Prius? I had a Prius try to get infront of me as the road went to one lane and I pulled on that little basterd in 4th gear with out down shifting

The Fit is NO drag car and more importantly, why is someone in a Prius even racing anyways. I'm no "fuddy duddy" but really, why bother. Most people I see drivng Prius' are old, left over hippies from the 60's anyways, lookin' all smug I used to look at them and laugh because on the freeway, the Fit is just as good on gas, they really think they're doing something for the environment but in reality they're NOT!!!
The Smart car, really, would you REALLY want one of those over the Fit.....I THINK NOT!

Highway + crosswinds, early on when I had my Fit. Wasn't racing, but the Fit was so unstable with the winds, that everything just about seems like they were passing/blowing by me... including a Prius, various SUVs, etc ie. other tall profile vehicles. I could barely keep it stable at 50 mph without a ton of constant corrections. HATED EVERY MINUTE OF THAT DRIVE.
Later the same trip, tried to pass 2 trucks on a single lane road each way, there was room it seemed like, but the slushbox Fit couldn't muster enough to pass them both (floored the whole way)... and there was oncoming traffic, so I ended up on the opposite side emergency lane to allow oncoming traffic by/avoid head-on. I guess I had to adjust from a V-6 Accord to the Fit, so it was quite a bit of a power deficit/change!
Never saw that much wind or took that long a trip again in the Fit though, but I would say that after a couple thousand miles on them, the stock tires improved on highways. Going down in power to a slushbox Fit was like turning in my mancard.
As for the Smart, umm... do you really want to be behind the wheel of that car?...
