Are the 2012's still GE's?

Just for the record, the 2008 GEs sold everywhere else (but places like US & Canada) are a totally different chassis than what we have here (in the US & Canada) for the same model year.
With that said, as long as the 4th and 5th characters in the VIN are GE then at car is in fact a GE regardless of the model year it was made.
So pretty much if you are in Japan during October of '08 and just picked up a manual Fit Sport with the top of the range engine (1.5 i-VTEC L15A7). More than likely your vehicle's VIN would start off as, "JHMGE87608".
If you picked up a manual Fit Sport in the US or Canada the exact same time frame (Oct of '08), your VIN would have started out as, "JHMGD37608". If you picked up the M/T sport a year later (Oct of '09) in the US or Canada then your would have started as, "JHMGE87609".
