New personal record - 700kms from a tank of gas!
driving a 09 fit LX 5speed with stock tires fully inflated and with some casual mostly highway driving, threw the city, yesturday got 700kms when the light came on - trip computer registered 4.9L/100kms (had the software upgrade applied and the recall done awhile ago)
I'm pretty happy
Going easy on the highways, looking ahead, coasting when possible
nothing heavy in the car and windows up
hybrid - why? the Fit is similar, cheaper, and way more fun to drive and has the space!
total milesage is just over 40km

I was surprised too - not sure how to get pics up, let me know and i'll add some....
mind u i wouldn't call it driving the fit, more like driving under the limit, going nutrual on decents and looking ahead for red lights.
reset at every fill up - roads r pretty flat here and this was 80% highway too with no AC
its not my typical driving manner, but was curious this time around.

was a test amigo - driving at that speed - and no left lanes here!
drive in europe - know what they do on the left lane to get a pass?
typically i'm a 65-70 driver, but know no way i can get the same mileage!

Honestly Me too - if u can post me how to add pics, i'll show u what the readings were. I'm not good with these kinds of things.
to answer your question, it was what the computer stated (and yes as mentioned above, the software update was applied last year)
Every fill up i reset the mileage. using regular gas as well & I'm the only driver

i wouldn't go that far. i hit 41 MPG on a road trip from san francisco to palm springs averaging around 70 MPH. yes, that's manually calculated. in my daily driving through SF hills and bay area freeways, i average anywhere from 28-34 MPG depending on how much i'm on the freeways during the week.

Question, why is it set to calculate l/100km? I think it is this way in most of Europe also. Just seems a bit odd, why not just do km/l. This is how it's calculated here in Japan, seems crazy that automakers have to make at least 3 different readouts to appease different areas of the world. Though I suppose it would be easier for Japan to change to l/100km, just seems like an odd way to calculate.
Concorde, I have quite the heavy foot, my total average since owning the car is 29.48mpg (12.53km/l). I have a spreadsheet I keep of every fill up since Jan 17, 2010. I don't use the stock readout since I had the J's reflash done, it actually screwed up the fuel readout by 1~1.5km/l. To say that the Fit is not capable of reaching over 35mpg is not at all true. Just on Saturday I drove over to Osaka (462km) and I filled up on the way back home. KM at the time was 561km and it took 36.87 liters to fill which translates to 35.8mpg and this with my heavy foot, sitting on the expressway for about 35~40minutes due to 2 accidents moving along at about 8km/h and a hard thrashing to test the suspension on a touge run with Umehara-San at the wheel. I don't do anything special and frankly I don't care about FE all that much, I'm happy if I get over 11.5km/l in the traffic here. My tires are at 33.5psi fr/rr and running 205/50; I'm definitely wasting fuel due to the wider contact patch of about 23mm over the stock 185/55.
After all that, if you are not accomplishing it (the world doesn't revolve around you) it doesn't mean it is not possible. And actually my highest recorded was a 40.18mpg (was only a 269km trip and it took 4.16g to fill back up) and this was also on 205/50.

take 7.5 l/100 km and a 800 km trip.
800/100 is easy, just 8 (anything divided by 100, 10 or 1000 is easy).
8 by 7.5 is 60. (not as easy, but multiplication is usually just a little easier than division).
now, convert that to km per liter/litre... ~13.33 km/l
800/13.33? about 60 (used a calculator!).. yes, it should be exactly 60, but remember the 13.33 was rounded off.
so while you have "less" math to do with dividing by km/l... it can be a little difficult sometimes. Breaking it down to two, or one and a half steps (divide by 100 is the same as just moving the decimal two places) easier steps can sometimes be easier to handle overall.
imagine if it was a 756 km trip.

Maybe someone wants to start importing kms/L displays here in Canada. I wonder if they would work or would need a JDM reflash?

What i did:
- no ac
- windows up
- typically just me driving
- tires inflated
- no roof racks etc
- no cruise
- nothing extra lugging around
- coasting
- shifting to n when i see a red light
- no hills to deal with
- no blasts of wind
Anyways - back to normal driving waiting for my ivtec stickers then working on the stereo and tires etc

Anyway I found this video informative if not humorous.
