Ok Steve244: How DO you get 40+ mpg on your Fit?
#21
I'm not heavy on the gas pedal by any means but I'm also not driving like a Granny. I'm almost down to the wear bars (3/32) after about 26K miles of driving and I do enjoy the "twisties".
For those that wish to see, I have two years of history logged at the link below.

Also, of note, I filled up today and drove home (about 6 miles from the gas station on relatively level ground and I pulled in the driveway with the economy meter saying 47.1mpg. I won't be able to sustain that for the week but i have had 43 & 44mpg weeks but the weather has to be right for that too. Reset the trip meter at the top of a long hill and coast down... you'll see your economy in the 60's. LOL.

Given that mine's a 2012 (mpg software should be fine) and that I've been able to hit 39 mpg on a route that included Hwy 1, SR 156, Hwy 101, and Hwy 680, I think there's a good chance I could do 40 mpg on Hwy 5 as long as I'm not getting tailgated or succumb to the temptation to floor it. I might have a chance at it during the Thanksgiving holidays.
In any case, averaging 32-35 combined (in my town and routines) on a daily basis is great.
bunz559, don't fret about your mileage. I took my daughter to a concert in San Francisco and had to do a lot of driving around the city. My mpg averaged the worst ever with all the stop-go-turn. I think it was 27.

Yes, it has, as I stated in my earlier post. With the update, my indicated mileage decreased about 4 mpg.

Sounds like you're driving normally in the city. Shifts between 2.8K-3.5K are normal (the shift logic in the auto does this under low-moderate acceleration). Shifting at lower RPM lugs the engine. While it might save some gas, it isn't kind to the car.
The EPA estimates are realistic, some will do better some will do worse.
If you drive constant speeds between 45-55mph high 30's or maybe even 40mpg isn't unrealistic; but this isn't a "normal" driving pattern for the majority, I think.
