weathertech mats

I received my weathertech mats, and was wondering how they are to be connected to the floor? Do you remove the stock honda "clips" to use the supplied ones, or do you just use the OEM clips?

If the OEM ones are to be removed, how do you get them out? I feel like the whole carpet is gonna rip out when I try to remove them.

thanks

The "clips" are rotary. You need to rotate the retainer and they will pull right out. But have fun with the WT's. I've bought WT Floorliners for every vehicle I've had for the last 10 years, but the Fit is the worst...mostly because they don't properly use the Honda clips. My mats shift around anytime I don't keep my foot on the pedals (dead, clutch, or the like).

my weathertechs moved around a lot, i was very dissapointed especially since they were like $130 just for the front 2 floor liners, my fix was to use some 3m velcro tape on the floor liner and the velcro holds very tightly to the carpet

Church, guys. I made the mistake of buying Weathertech floor mats for my '07 Fit after hearing so many good things about them and was utterly disappointed with the poor fit. The mats slid around more than foxy boxers participating in a K&Y wrestling match!

I've since replaced the Weathertechs with the OEM all-season floor mats and have been pleased with the much improved fit and finish. As an added bonus, they were cheaper than the Weatertechs as well!

OEM Fit All-Weather floor mats

I definitely know that Honda made some for the '09+ Fits too so those who are considering going with the WTs may wish to reconsider..

So there seem to be mixed reviews about these mats moving around. Some folks on other threads say that they stayed put. All the folks in this thread say that they shift.

Am glad that I haven't yet bought a set. But the rains are coming soon and I need a solution.

Is there no way to modify the Weathertechs so they can be attached using the Honda retainers?

Get the DigitalFit mats from weathertech for the front. Those are infinitely superior to regular floor mats. For the rear seats just get the OEM ones if you can.

So the "All-Weather" mats ($100) will move around?

The "DigitalFit" mats ($170) won't?

I used the clips and some double sided tape to tape down the driver side. It would slide around and hate for it to get stuck with the pedals.

Was this with the "All-Weather" model or the "DigitalFit" model?

the digital fits will move around, that what i have, and i used 3m velcro to make it stay put, and it seems to work well

the oem all wheather mats fit way better, but i find the oem ones are not as well at catching/keeping the water in, where the weather tech digital fit mats go up like 3" all around to keep water in

I also used double-sided tape to help my front driver's side (left over tape from my door sills). Mine are digital fusions. Very happy with how well they trap rocks, dirt, grass, etc. from getting on the carpet.

I also have the rear digital fusion setup. It fits well and doesn't move around like the driver's side front one. Really like that it covers the center area for extra protection when I load stuff back there.

I personally haven't had any issues with the DigitalFit ones move around on me, though Jooky seems to have had the issue....and I drive a MT Fit too. *shrugs* I love my DigitalFit mats in the front.

I have weathertech digital fit mats for the front only & they do not move at all. I have only had them for three months or so, so maybe they will start to move over time. I have the oem all weather in the rear.

I decided to just go with the Honda OEM all-weather mats after reading about the potential slipping of the front WeatherTech mats and the poor coverage of the rear mats. I rarely go slogging through mud or snow so the Honda mats are enough.

The OEM mats cost me just $98 shipped.

I'd have bought the front WeatherTech mats and secured them with velcro if I lived up in Lake Tahoe. But then I'd still have to find a better mat solution for the rear seats.

To the OP, I'm sure you probably figured it out by now but I found the answer to your question on this other thread in case other people are wondering.

Weathertech Digital Fit

In short, you don't need to remove the clips, you just put the WT Digitalfit mats over the clips.

Not sure what to go with sounds like weather tech digital fit in the front honda oem in the rear lol sounds janky

anyone else have an opinion? im considering getting some all weather mats in the next couple days… I like that the weather tech covers higher and traps more dirt water.. I think the oem is too low and doesnt do a good job of covering from dirt COMPLETELY
