Different drivers can change mpg by a few percent but if the car is not running efficient then it wont matter that much. I have a 1.8 liter motor getting better mpg than the 1.5. It uses 20 percent more fuel to get the same 14.7 fuel air and I am still seeing 42 mpg average with city too.

My Fit was getting great mpg near the end with out changing the oil or putting air in the tires, valves adjustment. The better gas allows you to drive more efficient and the Fit is capable of that.

You are now on my ignore list. Ive been patient with you and gave you the benefit of the doubt.

Wait. What?

What kind of car do you drive?

Oops, you're ignoring me. Never mind.

My Avatar picture?

It's an undoctored snapshot of my Fit's average mpg display.

Rather phallic, don't you think? Not unlike Cash's finger, or DSM's gif.

KC, before you start your car turn the key on and see the LTFT is set but the STFT is not until it goes in to close loop in a few seconds. In winter it will take up to 30 seconds but usually 10-15 seconds. That will prove the Fit uses LTFT during start up. It also uses LTFT during full throttle too.

^ This why the Fit should get an R18.

I am not sure on the GD3 but it should use the the o2 fuel trims the same way. The new GE8 has a MAF sensor so the air flow is more accurate.

Yes, I noticed that when I got my R18(auto). The 1.5 is a little under powered but a good motor. I got a little better mpg in the winter(1.5 manual) which averaged better so I got 36.5 in lifetime mpg. All summer long I am getting over 40 mpg with the R18 but the winter mpg was 29/32. I hope it gets better mpg this winter. The R18 life time is 36mpg. So the Fit wins in mpg. In 2004 I had a 1.7(auto) liter Civic and was getting 35 winter and averaged over 38 lifetime. All on premium and M1 except the R18, did experiment with gasoline in all cars and mpg dropped when using regular.

Of course LTFT is set. It's LONG TERM fuel trim.

Whether it's used at cold start is another question. A question that your cited references and your bud, DSM, says isn't called into play until the O2 sensor heats up and closed loop operation commences.

But don't let me distract you; carry on.

What kind of cars do you have, again?
