Bluetooth
Howdy -
I'm probably going to buy a Fit this fall when dealers have it in stock again. My biggest concern is the car's total lack of Bluetooth. I'm not holding my breath that Honda is going to add it to the 2012 model, although that would be nice.
In your GE8, what have you found is a good solution for adding Bluetooth phone and streaming to your car? I just tossed in a single-DIN Sony deck into my current Subaru. I just seems wrong to take a brand new car and tear the radio out and add in something aftermarket, particularly single-DIN.
The only solutions I've found are:
1. Buy a double DIN kit on eBay (Honda Fit Radio DOUBLE din Install Dash Kit + wires | eBay) and add it to some kind of a Bluetooth ready double DIN unit.
2. Buy the FlyAudio NAVI deck (https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...e8-pics-2.html), which looks sweet, but is made in China and probably $700 junk. Plus, I hear the company isn't even making it anymore.
What would you suggest from your own experience? Thanks in advance!

I wonder if there are any alpine Bluetooth modules that can be connected. I know Alpine has units that can accept Bluetooth modules and that the unit in the Fit is made by Alpine... but does it have a compatible module?

Maybe. Has anyone made an Alpine Bluetooth module work on the stock deck?
The frustrating part is how easily Honda could just add it to their existing radio. The thing already has a Bluetooth icon, according to this video:

maybe buy a chinese head unit from ebay that includes the din kit.
it's around $400 to $500
I can't find any double din aftermarket bluetooth/navi double din HU that has a remote control. I don't feel like touching the screen when I'm driving.

My FIT bluetooth solution is mickey mouse by all your standards
I bought a bluetooth enabled Garmin GPS (with dual built in mic and speaker) and paired with my phone.
Each time my phone rings, the caller ID is displayed on the GPS. The GPS allows handsfree calling.

Many Double-Din HU's have Bluetooth in them. I have a Garmin Nuvi that has bluetooth built in and that's what I use for calling however I have to turn down the stereo manually when I make or receive calls. I also have a Parrot Minikit Slim that works great but needs recharging periodically.
If Stereo replacement isn't out of the question, I'd go that route as it's a few hundred bucks but you get a number of improvements - better sound, Bluetooth, better ipod and MP3 Navigation, and SatNav if you go that route as well. There aren't many down sides to upgrading the stereo.

Some GPS units have FM transmitter. For example, the Garmin nuvi 760 I bought a while ago has both Bluetooth and an FM transmiter. So, I can pair my phone to the unit and then output the sound to the radio. The GPS will display caller info if it syncs the phone book.
I would do that, but I have an actual hands free handset for general use, and there's pairing conflicts with both in range.

Yeah I hear ya on the lack of BT.
I'm thinking of buying the Alpine CDE-123 and adding the BT and XM modules.
It's $600 out the door installed. Which is not very expensive as far as stereos go, but I'm still a little cheap to spend that much
I wish there was a decent BT deck out there, that also has XM capability. Seems like all of the Pioneer offerings have 1 or the other, but not both.
I thought about getting a sunvisor bluetooth unit (ie Parrot or BlueAnt) but you spend $50-100 and then have to run wires for power, it looks ugly.
And for XM I'm gonna spend $300-400 installed anyways. So total would be $400-500. So why not spend an additional $100 and have a sweet Alpine deck, with BT and XM integrated?
Good topic
