Heat Soak Sapping Power?

Heat Soak Sapping Power?
Not sure if anyone notices this, but my Fit just feels real sluggish/tired after its been sitting for a bit in a hot parking lot on a hot day. In the morning right out of the garage when its cooler, it feels peppy and ready to go, and when parked in a parking structure with shelter, its not terrible either.
But drive it out somewhere, park it for a bit in the hot sun while you shop, and you come back to a tired car, with the engine seeming far less willing to play.

i havent really noticed this, but i will definatly be paying closer attention now to see if i notice it too!
i have noticed however on the really cold days here in calgary when its -30 Celcius it feels pretty sluggish until its been driven for fifteen or so minutes

this is normal not only on our cars but all combustion engine cars. heat soak is more prone on smaller blocks especially with high humidity, full load.
my GE is especially slow today in 90F with heat index over 95F.

Never noticed this condition here in the desert of southeastern california, northern baja mexico. It has been 105+ plus here for the past 1.5 months and will be this way for another 2 months or so. Fit is as peppy as ever, no matter if it has been sitting or on the go. Couldn't be happier with my vehicle. All car have heat shock somewhat; however, Fit seems to be better than most. Good luck.

You are correct on the winters for comparison. Spent the past winter in Missouri for 2 weeks and no difference, from now, there either. It does get in the 30s and 40s at night here during winter; however, no terribly freezing weather here in so cal.

you might need to calibrate your "go" in your head then.
the Fits are slow in the summer heat vs cold winters. cold as in 20F or below. thats when it can get sort of entertaining.

Heat soaking on my Fit is not hear as bad as my MK4 GTI 1.8 Turbo, Way too small of a intercooler contributed to that, I was thankful every time winter came around it felt like I threw a 150 shot of nitrous in the thing.
There were days that I couldn't even spin the tires on command from a car with over 220 wheel hp.

I'm soaking in +30 above ambient temps at idle after hard runs and +5 above ambient while coasting after hard runs. Openning the throttle immediately drops temps to 3-4 above ambient. This is NA mind you. I never had this with the fmic.

I notice it a lot here in Louisiana. The average temperature around here during the summer has been about 98*F with 60-70% humidity. The heat index is usually around 103*F. I don't know much about "heat soaking" but I attribute the lack of power to running the A/C on full power

I've noticed my fit likes higher octane gas in the extreme heat / elevation, and I have experienced heatsoak while doing 90 through the desert of texas, new mexico, arizona, and california a few weeks back. I think for the extreme heats over 100*F we probably could benefit from a larger radiator, and when the your cruising 10mph over the 75-80mph speed limit.

And a larger condenser and cooling fans. The AC gets pretty pathetic while sitting at stop lights and in bumper to bumper traffic.

Just to split hairs. Heatsoak refers to an increase in intake temps above ambient. Saying a car runs worse when it's hot out is like saying the sky is blue. Heat soak is a very specific and ultimately, correctable problem. I'm just too lazy to correct it,
