Question Why does everyone do the exact same mods?

Simple question. Nothing to elaborate on.

Monkey see, monkey do!

Limitation on parts, know-how and starting from the same platform/car, only so much that can be done by/for the average person.

Down for a turbo kit group buy. Then wed have some "difference" in mods. Our cars aftermarket support sucks and it won't get better. Exhaust intake coils or springs. Wheels tires. That's it. I mean theirs spark plugs. Batteries brakes. Etc. But for the most part there is not a lot to choose from.

Because we all drive the same car. Most of it bought it for reliability, so they put on the same boring reliable mods that work.

(For the intake mod) Well that $300 would have probably prevented their intake falling off while on the highway like mine did... (but that was kind of my fault anyway hahaha).

Smile Well...

I wanted to strap a rocket engine to the top, convert to only 3 wheels, add wings and have a car plane...but no one could tell me if the Thule roof rack with bungee cords would hold the rocket engine tight enough to the car, how to convert the steering for one wheel in front of the radiator, or how long the wings would need to be for liftoff...

Without elaboration, here my best answer.

There are more People than there are different types of mods.

That's the only mods they can do/what's available.

Or they don't want to mess up the only car they have lol, that would be me!

^lol a bit of an understatement...

I'm keeping it pretty simple with my mods, although I try to do everything in my own style, I'm not good at keeping up with many trends (too costly). One thing I'll be adding soon is a retrofit kit, I don't see many GE8s with them yet.

Simple question but no simple answer I guess, Lyon. Just from posts I've seen, what people define as "mods" reflect skill sets, age group and resources.

There's quite a few of you here that are hardcore and some who consider stickers, antennas and wind deflectors as mods. Quite entertaining actually.

Nonetheless, all Fit Freaks! Quite a group! Enjoy being here, all!

Simple answer... because there are some mods that are popular with the
average Fit owner that operates the Fit as a daily driver.

For instance, I have the following mods (mod lite) for the following reasons:

Locking gas cap... mischief deterrent
Tint... cooler interior given my Texas location
Body side moldings... prevent parking lot door Rambo from messin' my ride
Billet lower grille... prevent expensive AC condenser repair.
Wheel locks... visible deterrent.
Shorty antenna... the only form over function mod I have

No extensive mods for me because I need reliability and an intact warranty.

Judging from the Fits I see in my area I'd say most people don't mod at all. On FF I think most people who mod tend to stick with mods that don't require significant amounts of skill, money, or risk. The mods that meet those requirements are limited and somewhat commodified, so they are popular.

Speaking for myself, I do not have the resources to go mod crazy. I would absolutely love to have the money, time, tools, and resources to make a reality of the few DIY projects in my head.

Where do you want to see more diversity in modification? Other variations of current mods? More performance mods? More ICE mods? More interior/body mods?
