im going to say it IS covered. as it is OEM equipment. kinda like the headunit or headrests

I agree as well... spare tire is OEM, though loose item, will most probably be covered by auto insurance.

Hopefully, installed non-OEM mods are covered as well

depends on your coverage. but most likely not. if you car is stolen and stripped, the insurance isn't going to pay for your $1000 coilovers or $400 jdm taillights. they are going to give you OEM replacements

My understanding of my policy is that if its a declared installed item, then its covered, even if aftermarket.

check with your insurance agent. all ive ever read was people getting screwed when their cars get stolen or totalled out from a crash.

my buddy had a suzuki sv650 with about $10k in mods. he was involved in a crash where he wasn't at fault, but the other person fled the scene. his insurance would only cover like the first $2k in mods and he couldn't even buy the bike back.

You must pay a shit-ton each month with a $0 deductible.

Yeah that part seemed a bit far fetched to me. The base wheels are "small" but not the alloys, which is what is being stolen in my opinion.

Agree with lyon. My deductible is $0. Got it changed for $20 extra a month. After a wheel got stolen twice on my gd.

um... he works for Allstate. >.>

speaking of which... I add a tidbit for those that care.

While I agree that wheels locks are a deterrent... some can be better than others.

Gorilla Automotive Products - Lug Nuts, Wheel Locks, Auto Security, Wheel Accessories

McGard SL Ultra High Security Wheel Bolts/Locks (with spinning head) | BeastPower Motorsports

Granted, that's for a slightly different mounting system...

and

KYO-EI - Dency 2000 Lock Nuts - Nengun Performance (taken from latest and greatest wheel locks? - Club Lexus Forums)
one more for the Dency
KYO-EI Dency 2000 Lock Nut - Plating

can make it harder for thieves (unless they manage to have a key or some sort of master key).

That Dency is really interesting... a magnetized free spinning cover... with a keyed lock underneath. Useful... until the thieves carry magnets with them.

+1
me too, especially since my tires are almost bald. I would get brand new tires and change over to the nicer Honda 7 spoke rims and pocket over $1,000 in savings.

This is why you should always keep your stock parts. Switch back all you can and remove any added accessories before signing over to insurance company. Then sell on your own or install again if you buy the same vehicle.

The difference between a $500 deductible and $0 deductible is only $25 every 6 months on my policy. Granted theft rates are low out here, and I work for Allstate, but still comprehensive is cheap. Collision is expense. That's why I have $1000 ded for collision and $0 for comprehensive.

Hum... I wonder if I should change my coverage to something similar.

Right now, I have 250 comprehensive and 500 collision.

What do you recommend? (about comp/col/and all the other bits)

The Honda Fit Sport GE factory alloy wheels are very nice. They look good. Here in Puerto Rico this is happening too.I had see Toyota Yaris with Honda Fit Sport wheels.Honda wheels are expensive here.Every friend here in FF with a Fit must know that ours wheels are HOT items for thiefs no matter where you live.I install lock nuts and ALWAYS try to be careful where i park my Honda Fit.Take care my friends....

Snap-on, and probably others, make socket that will take off most of the wheel locks. It just digs into the metal and grabs it. I surprised on how easy it looks. The locks just slow a professional down a bit. The locks would just detour a thief who just has a lug wrench and a couple of milk crates.
