Question about dashboard lights and icons while keys in position II...
just noticed while listening to the radio with the keys in position II :
The usual three that light up on the left and stay on for a bit (engine, battery and oil) light up fine but after 20-30 seconds the engine light blinks 5 times then disappears.
Is this normal? I just paid out the behind (see my 2 previous threads) and had new coils, a maf sensor, and plugs put in and NEED to know if I should drive the car back in to have them fix something. I called but the advisor said it was normal. Never noticed it blinking before and usually blinking indicates a problem.
As always thanks for everyone help in advance.

What's not normal is to listen to the radio in position II without the engine running. Accessory (position I) is intended for this and will save your battery.

Readiness Codes
Your vehicle has certain ‘‘ readiness
codes ’’ that are part of the on-board
diagnostics for the emissions
systems. In some states, part of the
emissions testing is to make sure
these codes are set. If they are not
set, the test cannot be completed.
If the battery in your vehicle has
been disconnected or gone dead,
these codes are erased. It can take
several days of driving under various
conditions to set the codes again.
To check if they are set, turn the
ignition switch to the ON (II)
position, without starting the engine.
The malfunction indicator lamp will
come on for 20 seconds. If it then
goes off, the readiness codes are set.
If it blinks five times, the readiness
codes are not set. If possible, do not
take your vehicle for an emissions
test until the readiness codes are set.
Refer to Emissions Testing for
more information (see page 329).
