Hard starting up the car.

My car never did this before even in winter time. It used to start up very fast, but now it takes twice the time. After driving a while you start up the car, it starts up just fine again.

I still didn't do my recall yet due to being extremely busy with my new job. Maybe i'll let them fix it while at it.

Btw I drove from Atlanta,GA to SealBeach,California a week ago for this new job. Everything was fine during that 2,300 mile trip.

I am experiencing the same issue with mine, 09 Fit have not done the recall. The starter turns over twice as long as normal before the car starts.

I've noticed this during the last month or two as well, before and after the LMS recall. It happens on both inclines and on flat ground. Mileage is currently around 38K. I suspect something fuel/filter related...

I am experiencing the same thing for about a month.
I have a 09 Sport, and the recall was performed.
I was thinking it was the remote start that drain the battery, but if this many people is having problem with it then...

Mine too, got the car six months ago, 4500 miles, seems to take more than the usual half-second of cranking to get the car to start. Any ideas? (my car was not recalled)

I get a spell of hard starting too. It caused by 2 things temperature change since you last shut sown the car and rain. The fuel trims are off because when the temps are cooler more fuel is needed but your engine was hot when you shut the car off and rain or low pressure leans the fuel trim too. Also in the cooler mornings there is less light ends compared to in the winter because the gas season change it become less volatile.

I'm having the same problem but only after letting it sit for 5+ hours. A fix that i've noticed after listening to another member was to turn the car on and let the gas needle level out before trying to start it. I guess it lets the fuel pumps prime and be ready to go. It does make a huge difference though.

2010 Fit Sport 13k on it and when I start it up it jumps to and hovers for a few seconds 2k on the tach; I know the Fit is supposed to idle a little higher after start if it's cool out to warm the cat up, but isn't that too high?

could it be battery related? ours is pretty much a lawnmower battery...

I dodged the LMS recall, so it can't be all related to that.

@Jamy: I do all the time. The "twice longer to start" only occurs on me when the engine is cold or fall below operating temps. Started noticing this at 8K miles, I'm 8.7K now.

Battery???

I don't think it would be the battery because that would cause slower cranks not more cranks

So now your Fit takes even longer to start because you have to wait first. I've tried this on my car and had minimal difference. I wouldn't call mine hard or long to start but it does not start instantaneously like my previous car. The Fit always takes a half a second or so. I think it could be our lawnmower battery, a little weak on amps.

Yeah, I wouldn't call that a fix, but a work-around.

My car used to start almost instantly and now it doesn't.

If a lot of people are having this issue suddenly maybe it's a change in fuel, though it seems kind of strange that it would have that much of an effect going from winter to summer gas.

I guess we'll see if it goes away. If it's the battery they've got some 'splaining to do, because my car's new.
