2010 Fit worth $1070 more than new!
Some drivers who purchased cars last year are finding a sweet surprise when they look up their car's value: The vehicle is worth more now than it was a year ago.
There are fewer used cars on the market, forcing up prices. It's a delayed effect of the auto meltdown, which severely curtailed leasing in 2008. That means fewer cars are coming off lease and heading into the used car market.

I don't normally buy brand new cars, but I one of the big reasons I bought a 2011 Fit over a used 2009 or 2010 Fit was that the cost wasn't going to be very different. Luckily, I got mine mine before the supply of new Fits really dwindled.

I bought mine for 17,090 OTD In Dec 09, got a 2010 Fit Sport.
Dealership has actually called me and offered to buy it back at that price Car has 8k miles. I wouldn't sell it though, I love the car, and have done enough mods where I wouldnt sell it.
I dont think there is a nother car I'd want unless I move up to say the 25k area for a car, and I would just never spend that much on a car.

Thing about hondas is it hardly ever makes any sense to buy a barely used one. They keep their value too well. You get so close the new price, may as well spring for new. With the current situation and the fit being made in Japan, fuel economy, it has come into the public's radar, etc, new is going to make more sense and you are not going to have much negotiating power either. So yeah, all of us that got ours are lucky at this time.

Agreed, when I purchased my 2011 2 weeks ago all the used 2010's on the lot, < 60K miles, where within $1500 of a new 2011

Been thinking of possibly replacing the Fit. This may push me over the edge. Mine's an early '09 so it won't be worth as much as a '10, but it's not very often you get to sell an almost 3 year old car for not much less than you bought it for. And since it's paid for and could be a huge down payment, it would allow me to get a much nicer car and have the same or lower payments than I had on the Fit. Hmmm.

NADA value, your joking rightThat's National Automobile Dealers Association! Not exactly the people I would expect to value a car fairly.
Dealers have another book, it used to be a little black book. That is what they really use to value a car.
One Fit sold at the Orlando dealers auction. Check what a dealer paid for one!! This is the Manahime auction for dealers only! $15,600 now thats impressive.

Well, at least in my case its a Fit Sport w/ nav, so the MSRP is a bit more. And my understanding is that currently its pretty hard to find a new Fit of any type. My local dealer is down to two in stock from the 12+ they had a few months ago. If the supply curve shifts radically, then the price is also going to change.

Dealerships that have multiple brands have shifted their dollars to promote their American/European offerings, while changing policies hang onto to their Japanese cars or even stockpile used ones so they have something to sell later.

My '09 is worth more than I paid for it (sans tax), according to KBB. I was shocked!
I'm going to be doing a lot less driving starting next month, so I'm halfway contemplating selling it and getting an older "work" car.
Honda's are desirable, but I'm not sure many people would pay that much for a used Fit in reality. I drive by my local dealer every day and they still have a few Fits on the lot.

I had been looking for a car for a long time. I could not believe the cars that did not sell on Ebay and kept coming up for sale time after time after time. Not just fits either, all the brands that I was looking at.
If I was going to list my 2011 Fit base on Ebay, I would list it for $18,999!
