Weapon R header review

for the love of whomever you hold in higher belief... use a lift to get this thing on.

set up- k&n filter, resonator cover removed, weapon r header, stock everything else exhaust wise.

noise- lot more noise, loud enough for my tastes that i doubt i would go any further for street/daily purposes. low acceleration is quiet, but when you get on the throttle it's just a fact that more air movement is going to result in more noise. the 3k-3.7k rpm range will be annoying in the future, right now the only thing i can assimulate the sound with would be a rotatory engine for a brief couple of seconds, then the typical L15a higher range. I can def hear the thing go in tunnels now.

power- def increase in mid range power. I like it.

Cons- the emissions smell this thing gives off reminds me of the days of 80's and older cars.
- at first start up, i thought i had an exhaust leak, but turns out due to the hollowness of the make, it's normal. or so at least i think it is.

fun- timing retard and popping when i'm in the higher rev range. like a mini back fire. awesome!

no pictures of the install...too frustrated getting the stock water bottle convertor out.

if anyone wants to tackle it diy style, I am available to provide assistance.

total time- about 3 hrs with help... if i didn't take time to wonder around under the engine bay, maybe 2hrs.

update- oops, i may have posted in the wrong section. mods plz move if nec.

Holy back fire! Oooo.....do u plan on getting an aftermarket exhaust? and/or Evil's custom b-pipe???? Would definitely love to hear that setup. That's what I'm eventually trying to go for in the future

Oh, and nice cooking videos

i dont think it sounds bad, actually sounds pretty sweet with the popping. i think it may be a little too loud for my daughter though. i prefer when babies sleep lol

any louder, it would be annoying. as my initial post.

in my defense, it's for hp purposes, not sound. all six hp.... (more so 12hp)

it's a honda afterall!

Lyon once commented about how the cats play an integral part of how to tame the tiny engine's roars... he's right. Mess around with it and you'll be reminded of how notorious a small 4 banger is. I'd rather tackle into a custom b-pipe than messing around with the down+front pipes on our cars. As daunting as it is... I'll have my own take on this down pipe & front pipe soon. I can tell you right now... keeping it "streetable" ain't easy but we should pull this one out.

Well, from running the P2R rear cat delete pipe (test pipe, B-pipe, whatever ), removing the REAR cat doesn't do much at all for noise or power. It must be the upstream cat that's corking up all that rice.

And no worries, mole- if the sound doesn't bother you, and I don't have to hear it, rock and roll Mark W.

Instead of removing the CAT, i was thinking to replace them with hi-flow unit ("performance" cat) pretty much
A shop next to my place are selling them (magnaflow i believe) what do you guys think?

I've done my exhaust three times bet advice I can give is for overall noise power all that is keep stock cat your car and earth will love you remove 2nd cat replace it with 2 inc piping all the way to your stock muffler no resonator try to match factory bends best you can to maintain your low end don't put fart can or aftermarket muffler or it goes from nice sounding to Harley airplane going nowhere lol have loved it ever since great sound
Nice little rumble that's my 2 cents now if this is just based on sound and
Not power just straight pipe your muffler and you'll be happy easy mod at all muffler shop for well under $100

In the past I had a high-flow cat, and a second cat after that one, and was still getting the damn CEL. I finally bit the bullet and bought the OEM cat. The light finally went away.

This was with my 5th Gen so not sure how these cars are or if the light really matters it terms of how the car runs.

To OP: Nice review, thanks for the info.
