Dash Board Static Electricity

Dash Board Static Electricity
My dash board has a ton of static on it due to being 100% plastic and it collects a ton of dust. I tried wiping it down with the Black Magic interior shine stuff, but as I wipe it down it does not take away the charge, and I keep getting HUGE shocks as I get out of the car. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reduce the static?

I'm pretty sure it isn't the dashboard or the car that is causing the shocks because you need surfaces to rub to produce electrical charges. Most likely it's your clothes, or you rubbing on a surface (i.e. carpet) building up charges prior or you're rubbing against the seat a lot when wiping the dashboard.
Try buying anti-static spray and spray it on the seat or use a different detergent.

To stop the shock, hold onto the metal of the door as you step out. That will discharge the static to the ground directly instead of it jumping to your arm or hand.
There are also special waxes that are designed to eliminate the shock effect. One of them is widely used on airplanes Its called collinite insulator wax. Advance auto parts sells it.
It's a PITA to put on, but it looks real good when your done.

I wear denim and shirts that usually have some cotton content.
I also live in a gated community where I have to punch buttons
at a keypad to open the gate... more often than not I get shocks
when punching those buttons.
I figures it just adds to my exciting Fit experience.
