TPMS on custom wheels

This is partially incorrect. The VSA in the winter can be detrimental when trying to get going or when stuck in snow as you want to spin your wheels. The down side of the TPMS is that you can't disable the VSA without TPMS Sensors functioning.

No, that is not the "only thing." Your car was designed for TPMS and if you willfully disable it be eliminating the sensors, your car is missing a safety feature that your insurance company counted on when they set your rates. If you should be unlucky enough to be involved in an accident, particularly if personal injury is involved, and have low tire pressure in one or more tires, your insurance company, and that of other affected parties, could sue you for negligence.
