Fit/Civic Navigation Owners - A Curiosity!
I had my audio/nav unit out the other day for some wire routing and the AC/Defrost Mod, and saw something on the back of our navigation unit that made me curious -- I have a hunch.
Our navigation units are almost identical to the Civic nav units, with only two exceptions:
- The Civic system is more of a black color, and ours is lighter, almost a dark grey.
- The Civic system, instead of having a button for AUX, has a button for XM Satellite Radio
On the back of my audio/nav unit is a fairly large place (rectangular) for another plug... but that would-be terminal (or what have you) is sealed. Athough it appears it is only plugged by a plate... fit snugly, or possibly even soldered.
I'm curious if that same opening would be occupied on the Civic audio unit by the XM Radio module. And, it would definitely require a module in order to be "XM Sat Radio ready"
If so, I wonder if one of those XM modules could be obtained from Honda, or elsewhere? If not a space for an XM module adapter, then what occupies that plug on the Civic, if anything? If not, then, why is it there to begin with?
Any Civic owners with navigation care to chime in, or care to temporarily remove their navigation unit and take a photo of the back of it with all connections (plugs) intact?
Would love to add XM to my navigation unit without having to use the external device I now use.
