I ain't complaining (trip to NY)

I drove down from Massachusetts to Long Island and the Fit did wonderfully! For starters, by the end of my trip to Long Island, I averaged 43 mpg per mpg-o-meter.

While heading down I-95, I came across a nice GTO Judge ('69 or '70?) and I blew his doors off. Granted he didn't know we were racing but I passed him while getting better mileage to boot!

I got to my cousin's house, I noticed the beautiful view through his bathroom window

One my way home, it was a total monsoon and essentially dangerous to drive so I hit a rest area, folded down the back seats and was able to full stretch out and take a nap while the storm dissipated. Love my Fit!

And a little off Fit topic, here's a picture of some of the Emmy Awards my cousin has won.

Excellent post! What are the Emmys for?

PS. You drove within a mile of my house in CT (assuming you drove down 95 the whole way).

Yea, I stayed on 95 and took the Throgg's Neck bridge.

And he dropped out of college during the first semester. He's a true success story.

I've been seeing 42mpg lately on trips on the country highways where I have to go about 60 mph. If I'm going 65-70 I can't sustain that mileage. Headwind? Forget about it.

Cheers.

Cool, I will be getting my 2011 base 5MT this week (if all goes according to plan.) And I do a lot of driving along almost that same rout. Looking forward to having a nice little car for these long trips rather than my 14 year old civic or 1999 Subaru. I have done the trip 5 times and so far only made it once in my own car, at least they always broke down before leaving rather than during the trip.

It's hard to find fuel around here that is straight gasoline. The ethanol-flavored fuels really reduce my mileage. I'm lucky to get 36 mpg with that stuff. Of course, it's 10 cents less per gallon.

Where abouts in MA? I just picked up a new 2010 black fit sport. I live in MA also. Have yet to break 40mpg (38.7 was highest) and I do mostly highway driving at the speed limit. How the hell did you get 43? Wow.
