i'll get 38-40 only on completely flat highway. i've been getting an average of about 33mpg, being about 80% highway 20% city. worst avg for a tank has been 29. i've only got around 6k miles on the car, hoping mileage gets better over time.

Bought a 2012 Base MT demo, 4400 miles. First tank was 247.3 miles on 6.88 gals 87 octane Citgo for 35.94 MPG. Tire pressure 30 lbs. Highway speed 70 MPH. 80% hwy. Avg MPG indicated 36.9

Second tank was 337.2 on 8.87 gals 87 octane Shell for 38.02 MPG. Tires upped to 44 lbs. 30% city, 70% hwy. Highway speed 60 -65 MPH. Avg MPG indicated 39.2

Third tank 295.6 on 7.04 gals 87 octane Shell for 41.99 MPG! 30% city, 70% hwy. Highway speed 60 MPH max. Avg MPG indicated 43.3

I used cruise whenever I was on the highway (North Central Fla.)

Count me as happy!

Check the avatar. This was all freeway from San Jose to Paso Robles, about 160 miles. Some hills here and there and a little wind and a little ac. Cruise control set at 65 mph. In perfect conditions I maybe could have added a mpg or two?

3. Stop tailgating. In crowded traffic on the way home, I'm always slamming on the brakes, then getting back up to speed, and repeat. If I left a little more cushion I could even it out. We'll see if this works or if people just cut in front of me.

6. Keep my tires inflated. I checked them today and they were running at 30. So I popped them up to 32 or 33 cold. I don't plan on inflating to max sidewall or anything like that- I'd prefer not to screw with wear and handling characteristics. But I might go up to like 35 and see what happens.

I would say those are the most important points for mpg.

As for #3 you shouldn't do that anyways. I know you want to stop people from getting in front of you but that's how pile ups start. Honestly dude you tail gate me I would let you know that is not safe and I'm upset that you put the safety of myself and my passengers at risk in the most civil way possible. (Wha no middle finger smiley?)

Agree with all the point. In addition, I have developed a habit of go very easy with the gas paddle, in a flowing traffic and/or down hill, I let go the paddle; and in a stop and go traffic, I slow down the car again with the gas paddle off given a good distance between the car so that I do not have to brake hard every time.
