the selling price is tight on the new fit..
I just picked up my new fit sport A/T, Red.. last week.
I paid $17500 with freight before tax.. ( $1k below MSRP)
I searched the forum, some members paid better than that,
while I shopping around,the salesperson told me that they could sell it for lower back then, but after the earth quake in Japan, no more new shipment at least for a long while. once the dealer sold out the vehicles which made in Japan, then need to wait. that's why the price is tight. also, for the low price car like Fit, the manufacture will not put it on first priority.
I believed that's true. before I walked in the showroom, I called and email many dealers for a quote, but NONE reply at all. (NYC metro area) that's not usual like back then,..

I bought mine 5 days for about the same price and was told the same thing by the dealer. The crazy thing is, I bought a brand new Fit for cheaper than what used 2010's were going for at various dealers. With the 0.9% APR, I figure it was a good idea to go with new!

As near as I can tell, fit prices are trending up right now. Supply of new fits from Japan is either stopped or really delayed and gas prices are creeping upwards. I'm pretty sure the KBB value on my 2010 is up about $1000 in the last few months.

Yeah, they are going up. I bought a brand new 2010 fit sport, and paid 16,500 for it (and got 4500 for trade in, which was WAYYY more than I thought) 0.9% APR. I went back to the dealer 7 days later to get it inspected and talked to them, and they said the prices are going up and I was lucky to buy when I did.

Well, any serious issues that cropped up in the new car should be worked out at that point. If it's certified used, they put a warranty almost as good as Hyundai/Kia on there. It seems to almost be a better bet for reliability.

Got mine a year ago for 15738+T&L, no unusual fees. You can thank the earthquake, gas prices, and lots of positive articles featuring the FIT for ruining the chance of that now. I could recoup 100% selling it private party right now (only have 6k miles on it to boot!).

your fit is Sport and A/T ? then $15738 is just dirt cheap.
even it's a very good price for the base model as well.

Yup, Sport A/T. Lots of drama to get that price, and the main downside is that I live in Kalifornia so nearly 10% sales tax

List price was something like $500k... but when buying it USED, it would cost you THREE times as much... $1.5 million.
The reason was simple... in order to buy the car from Ferrari, you had to be on a special list. And to get on that list, you had to own at least two Ferraris before that... and prove to them that YOU are "worth" owning the car.

I bought my 2010 Fit Sport 3 months ago. Honda told the dealer to discount a few 2010’s. I bought mine for $2700.00 off the dealer price. That was less than I would have paid in the lower 48! Plus, we have no sales tax.
My old vehicle had over 150,000 miles on it, and it made poor gas mileage. I could easily justify spending money on a new car. No repair bills and twice the MPG, what a concept.
So, now my Fit is worth more than I paid for it? Ka-Ching! We have a winner!
Wow, I just check KBB. My Fit is worth almost 2K more than what I paid for it.

Real value is determined by how much a buyer is willing to give for the car.
If you can sell it for above the price of a new one, then it's how much it's worth. But you have to look hard to find a dummy who will pay more for a used car than for a new one.
Dealers bet on ignorant car shoppers that don't check the prices of the new ones and go for whatever they are sold on the lot.

I have no intention of selling the car. It just makes me feel good knowing that my car didn't depreciate several thousand dollars right off the lot.

As for the “dummies”, you’re right. I passed on a primo used 2010 Fit and bought my discounted 2010 “new” instead. I paid 1K more than the used one was selling for.
BTW, my Fit is almost paid off now, so if I did have to sell it, I would still come out ahead.
