Ipod Interface -- any way to sort by letter, or browse quicker?

Just curious about the Ipod interface on the honda fit. I have 100GB of music on my ipod, which is over 17,000 songs.

Trying to find an artist in the middle of the pack takes a WHILE of turning the control wheel on the car. Is there a way to sort the artists and browse by letter of the alphabet?

EX, scroll through "A", "B", "C", "D", artists, etc, or any other way to browse quicker (skipping 10 artists ahead), or am I stuck turning the wheel for 5 minutes in order to get to "Metallica" ?

Any help would be appreciated!

You can sort alphabetically by song, artist or album if that helps.
I only use by 16 gb Nano in the Fit. Playlists are really the easiest way to navigate an ipod with the Fit interface.

Yeah, it is standardly sorted alphabetically, but when I have 800 different artists, it takes a while to get to the ones in the middle.

I was wondering if there was a way to do it so I could select "K" for example, and it would go to all the artists with K.

Or, if there was simply a faster way to browse through artists aside from spinning the knob.

Honestly, the best way to do it is to get your ipod setup and playing what you want, then plug it in. Obviously, this doesn't help during driving.

Playlists do help as well, at least to getting to playing something you want relatively quickly.

I agree. I set my iphone with the playlist, album, or author, if i don't wanna spend my whole drive spinning the dial to get to the one i want.

Guess I will get an AUX cable for it then -- browsing on the ipod itself if MUCH faster. Anyone know if the sound quality is not as good on AUX Vs. MP3? Also, can after-market CD players fit in the fit, or is the panel able to handle that?

You're always gonna lose some quality if you're using an auxiliary cable with an ipod as opposed to a synced module that can read the ipod (usb connection).

There is always a way to modify after market players into a car. You just gotta get the right wiring harness and the car kit. Definitely got space in the fit for a pretty nice double din set up. SCOSCHE HA1708B 2009 Honda Fit Car Stereo Installation Kit

Hey, thanks for that, I may end up doing that -- Music is very important to me, and spending a couple hundred extra on a nice stereo with a good interface wouldn't be an issue for me. Will that be compatible with the 2010 fit?

It wouldn't be an issue, and I would use the normal interface, but the dial is too slow when you have about 1,000 different artists to scroll through.

How about creating a playlist for each letter of the alphabet?

It doesn't work well to do that. If you do it that way, the iPod just plays all artists starting with M. So to listen to metalica, first you have to listen to Madonna.

No nav system for me. Probably just going to install an audio deck.
