Finally got my Fit Sport woohoo
Been hunting for a 2010 SSM Sport 5-speed for a while now. Missed out on getting one new. Well, last week a dealer nearby posted an ad for CPO one with 5k miles and I drove her home.
Been a lurker here for more than a year. Glad to finally be an owner!
What a fun car...
I've only had "QuickSilver" (her new name) for 5 days but already enjoying the hell out of it. Prior to this I had an E36 M3, and a turbo CRX.
Was considering the following but ended up getting the Fit Sport:
-Insight (1.3 was a little too poky, plus blind spots)
-CR-Z (need a 4-door hatch, plus blind spots made it a no-go)
-Mazda3 (if only Mazda had the 2.0l engine in their hatchback model. Plus why no stop/start for U.S.?)
My new Fit: I love the light weight, gearing, layout, visibility, handling.
Only complaints so far: driver seat lack of height adjustment and short thigh support, nonlocking gas door.
Other than that, I think Honda did a bangup job for such an affordable car. I love running around town in it, and it's a blast to drive.
Mods coming:
Tint, Honda leather shift knob, wheel locks (already on their way), Alpine head unit w/ Sirius/XM.

From what I've been reading we'll probably be seeing a lot of stop/start in cars in the next few years- probably pays for itself in saved gas, not to mention bragging rights for better mileage will help sell more cars.

Congrats on Quicksilver! (like the name)
It is indeed a blast to drive, esp with the manual tranny.
Though the seats are not perfect, I got used to the somewhat short cushions and narrow side bolstering of the seat bottom.
I don't find the non-locking gas door an issue, since if you look at most of the American and European cars out there, they don't have locking doors either.
There seems to be a lot of complaints on the CR-Z for the rear 3/4 visibility. I've driven 2 of them and 1 salesperson asked me if the visibility bothered me. Maybe I'm used to 2 door coupes, but I didn't find it too bad on my short drives.

Thanks C5MT.
I didn't know that about most American + European cars. Good to know.
My 1990 Honda CRX had it, and my M3. Guess I assumed it would be a standard feature on all cars by now. Oh well.
It cracks me up how small the Fit is when I park in our garage. Plonk! It's it =)

I thought most cars had an internal release for the gas cover- at least my prior car and my last few rentals did.
I looked out the window this morning and realized that my Fit would fit sideways in my driveway if I parallel-parked it. And when I cut a small tree down I could probably just drive right in and out without using reverse.

Yes, all you guys have to do is go out on the street of parked cars and check each car's fuel door. You'll find most Euro and American cars have the finger detent on the door, meaning no lock.

One simple solution to the seat issue is to remove the front bolts on the seat rail, place 3-4 3/8" washers under the rail [raising the height a bit] then replace the bolts.
It provides a bit more thigh support that I found to be helpful.

I'll 2nd the raising of the front of the seat with some washers. I've got long legs and it really makes the seat work for me. I used 5 washers and I also replaced the bolts with new full thread 10mm ones. The bolts in my car had a smaller tip to help get them threaded in probably during initial installation. But with 5 washers there wasn't enough of the correct sized thread to hold. So a quick trip to HD for 4 new bolts and I was in business. Also, the outer bolts go in at an angle which is tricky. I had to un-bolt the rear to get the front ones in and then redo the rear bolts.
Cheers, Kevin.
