intake question

Pardon me if this has been answered elsewhere. I have a 2009 manual transmission fit sport. I am thinking about a cold air intake. I was asked by the salesperson, "Is your car equipped with a mass air meter?'' THe question is---IS IT??? How do I know? remember --there are no dumb questions, just dumb people who ask questions.

The salesperson that you talked to is talking about the MAF sensor.

Yes, the 09-11 Fits have a MAF or mass air flow meter. It is secured to the intake tract on top of the airbox cover with two phillips head screws; the business end protrudes into the air stream; a heated strip and temperature sensor comprise it. More air cools the strip more, hence the function. The 07-08 Fits had a air temp sensor rather than a MAF, this arrangement is less precise for fuel metering then a MAF setup.

FWIW,
