Did my first ATF drain and fill yesterday with DW-1. Real easy. The plastic splash guard was nowhere near where the ATF was draining. Weird that the shop manual would recommend removing it.

It did seem to help. Upshifts seem a bit smoother and faster.

After 15 years driving my M/T Civic I'm still trying to get used to the A/T in the Fit. When rolling to a stop I sometimes notice a lurch when the transmission downshifts from 2-1 or maybe 3-1. Is this normal?

Also, if I come to a complete stop and then accelerate upshifts are fine. But if I do a slow "rolling stop" then accelerate the next shift is rather abrupt. Is this normal?

EDIT: yup, these shifting issues seem normal, lots of threads on this. I'll adjust my driving style, try S mode, manual downshifts with the paddles, etc.

My wife's Fit auto doesn't seem to lurch when coming to a rolling stop.

Just curious, did you do the 3 quart drain/replace via the ATF drain plug only or do full 6 quart using the transmission coolant line?

I noticed - which could be my personal bias only - that when I went from ZF-1 to DW-1, doing 3 quart ATF drain/replace only didn't feel as smoother than doing the full 6 quart.

I did the simple 2.5 qt drain and fill with DW-1. At some later point I'll do another drain and fill.

Your rear lower mount may be going bad.

Im actually in middle of filling mine up so I can reduce/remove wheel hop.
You will need a 17mm and a 19mm socket to remove it to check.

The crossmember bolt will NOT come out unless you reach up and turn the head so a tab facing the rear of the car is aligned, well, to the rear of the car! Then youn can pop it out.

Do this i=on a level surface. The motor will want to fall FORWARD. No chance of you crushing your hand while doing this, and no need to support motor
