New to Fit forum

Hello all,

New to the forum and the Fit. My mom just gave gave me her 09 Fit Sport because she went into an assisted living facility and can't drive anymore. Also my 03 Explorer 4x4 has 270,000 miles on it (still runs great but gets less than half the milage of the Fit. Love driving it, it's like driving a go-cart all time. Lots of fun. Never had a Honda very nice.

Here is my question, Does the Fit have any quirks like other cars or is it bullet proof like the old Honda's.
Any advise on how to take care of it, or just normal maintenance? Should I follow scheduled maintenance, or do my own more often? I didn't follow Ford's schedule, I think that's why my Explorer is still running good. LOL
Thanks for any help

It depends on what you mean by quirks. If you mean stuff to watch out for, then there are a few things. Your 09 might have an inaccurate MPG gauge, for example. Check the TSB sticky at the top of the board.

Should you follow the advice of the engineers who built and tested the car, or should you follow the advice of people who want to sell you more services? In general, sticking to the car's schedule should be fine, though I could see the desire to change the transmission fluid more often. Everything else though should be based on what the car says to do.

I'd do the AC condenser mesh guard mod. Search the forums for specifics. Other than that just follow the rcommended service intervals and any service alerts as previous post recommends. Enjoy!
