Request for Reports--Intermittent problems with starting

I'm having intermittent problems with my fit not starting, sometimes. It's either a battery issue, or a starter relay, or a starter issue.

I've seen a few posts on this.

This first appeared after I was T-boned by... another FIT!

At first I could not restart the car. After a little while the wrecker came and jumped it and it started. The body shop had no problems. Two days after I got it back, the doggone thing wouldn't start at the gas station. I tried multiple times, of course. I got clicks, then click.click.click.click as if the starter relay were dropping out at about 2-4 times per second. I called the body shop, they sent a guy out, and of course the stupid thing started after a little cranking.

I don't know if this is a starter, starter relay, or clutch safety switch problem. Any suggestions would be helpful... either it's the result of the impact from the T-boning, or it's a warranty issue... I have 35,580 miles on it!

It's almost certainly the battery. Get a new one before it completely goes dead. I finally replaced with a 51r but you can't fit that size with the stock airbox.

The first time the battery was dead and you needed a jump. The second time your battery was partially discharged and needed to sit there for a second to build up enough of a charge. The click click click is the normal sound you hear with this car when it's dead.

Your battery is almost certainly sulfated an is probably only holding a surface charge. Get it replaced.

Yeah ^^^

Get a new battery.
The old(current) one probably got its plates jostled when you got hit and things are not sitting as they were manufactured inside your battery.

Would not try to nurse the current one.

10:1 it's related to being in the accident and my guess would be warranty is out the window. You might be looking at wire harness damage that's possibly faulting to ground.
