First off.
First off i would like to say hello! i'm new to this forum as well as being a new owner to a standard 5-speed 2010 taffeta white honda fit. Well i have 2 questions i've been meaning to ask. i have about 1k on my vehicle right now, and i'm starting to notice that the gas tank might not hold that many gallons of gas =P. so i was just wondering, any of you guys ever notice how many miles you roughly get to the tank? i said roughly, so skip the blah blah about driving habits and enviroment factors, i was just simply wondering about other people's miles to tank milage. second question is kind of a noobie one. at what RPM do the rest of you guys roughly shift at while driving around town? i only ask because i don't know why, but i think it sounds kind of loud at 3k in first gear. kind of like i'm shifting too high.

haven't really paid attention to gas mileage so i can't answer your first question. according to the mpg estimator, i'm averaging about 33.1 mpg right now.
i shift just below 3k in 1st and 2nd gear. shifting below that will most likely get people pissed off behind you. once i get going, i then shift at about 2.5k rpm.

I usually fill 7-8 gallons every week around 300 Miles +/-. I My tank in the winter will take me about 350 miles and in the summer 400+.
I shift around 2700 for 1st & 2nd gear and it gets me up to speed plenty fast without annoying the person coming up from behind. I also don't pull out with so little room that I need to redline it to avoid an accident.
Welcome to the Forum.

I never understood why people respond this way... it only serves to potentially keep a post more relevant by bumping it to the top. The best way to let a post die is to not reply.

Evo, I have about 1k miles on my 2011 AT Sport now. The few tanks I have been getting got me precisely 301, 309 and 304 miles respectively and when I filled up, it was usually around 9.5 to 10.1 gallons. I know I am not supposed to continue clicking after the pump shuts off, but I usually still get about 0.5 gallon more with 3 more click. My bad habit. Next time I will try not to add more after the pump shuts off and see if I am getting the same mileage. Cheers.

I usually start thinking about filling up around 300 miles which has me filling anytime between 300 and 350.
It definitely takes some getting used to only having a 10.5 gal. tank, regardless of actual fuel economy. With my Civic's 14-gal tank I can go over 400 miles before the light even comes on. It might not seem huge, but it definitely sneaks up on you sometimes. I could take my Civic from Philly to Boston and have enough fuel left over that I could get almost back to CT before having to refill. With the Fit, depending on traffic, weather etc, I may even have to refill before I get to Boston...and in any case just as I'm leaving.

I don't agree with the people that say you've got to rev out the Fit to keep up with traffic. I find the Fit's engine to be amazingly flexible: pretty damn torquey all things considered from about 1500 RPM, and it just gets stronger all the way up to redline.
Once the engine's well broken in -- IMO you'll need another 1k on the clock at least before this happens -- shifting at 2500 will easily handle normal city traffic. 3000-3500 is fine for normal-length freeway on-ramps and one person aboard; if I need to deal with a short uphill on-ramp when I've got passengers then I'll rev it out to 4500-5000.
Of course, if Jadzia and I are both feeling sufficiently energized, then it's banzai! redline all the way!

You will get photos soon enough. Wednesday, if you get up early enough to clean it, I'll take photos for ya.
