New 2010 Fit LX

Hey first day with the new Fit...own a Honda Ridgeline already, coming from a VW history it is weird to own two honda's. Anyway the LX here in Canada doesn't come with a spare or jack..they provide the sealer goop and a electric pump. I am not so pumped myself on getting a slash in the tire and being stranded. So my question is will a spare from an older civic with a 4 x 100 bolt pattern fit? Info greatly appreaciated.

Cheers

Moe

congrats MOE, you can buy a spare on ebayy or in the US for fairly cheap too.
all the US models come with a spare...can't believe in Canada they cheaped out so much to make it an option and include a can or tire repair..lmao.

It wasn't about cheaping out, but about dropping weight to meet a government tax credit, which is why you see this on the AT, but not the MT, fits. Of course, you can also buy the spare tire accessory.

lets hear about the dropping weight to meet a gov't tax credit.

nterestingly, the 2009 Fit equipped with a manual transmission comes with a temporary spare tire, but Fits with the optional automatic transmission come with a tire inflation kit instead. Apparently, the extra weight of the spare tire combined with the automatic transmission raised the Fit’s average fuel economy above the government’s threshold for fuel-efficiency rebates (6.5 L/100 km). However, if you want an automatic transmission and a spare tire too, Honda will sell you one.

Wow that's the first I heard of that
The fuel mileage on both is identical and tube auto is rated 1-2 mpg more dues to lower revs on the highway. I heard it was a cost cutting option in canada and A $100 option

Congratulations Moe.. you will enjoy your FIT

I hear you Moe regarding non-existence of spare tire. I am in the same boat.. no spare tires, only a bunch of bottles and glue. Honda tried to reason with me that by not giving me a spare, they are doing me a favour to save weight and save fuel and asked me to imagine all the fuel savings over the year......

What I have done is I bought 4 steelies and 4 snow tires (X-ice - best tires by the way, little road noise and does not sound like a snow tank) and used one of the all season tires as my spare tires after I bought a cigarette lighter powered sissor jack $50 from Canadian Tire.

If I go on long trips in the winter using my 4 snow tires, I would throw into the trunk one of my all seasons as a spare tire. The reverse will happen if I make long trips in the summer. I will throw in one of the snow tires in the trunk as a spare tire.

That way, I save CAN $300 for a spare tire package and use the $300 to invest in a set of 4 snow tires and steelies. Michelin also gave me a rebate of $70

My 2 cents
