I find they are asking a premium for used Fits... even ones with as many as
~50,000 or so miles on them.

I'd consider used... but considering the difference in price I think I will just go with new rather than potentially pickup issues with a vehicle someone else has been driving.

exactly... after doing the math, after 5yrs of payments, the new cost about $600 more than the used. it's a no brainer in my book.

exact reason why we are in the market for a fit... my wife and i carpool to work and the savings from our gas usage will probably pay for the fit. we have a 2011 sienna and a bmw so both are not gas friendly. bmw isn't too bad but requires high octane.

If you are financing it, you can forget about sticker price, you are paying more. A car at this price point should be cash plus trade in, if you have one, or cash alone. That puts the buyer at an advantage in negotiations.

Honda dealer down the street has a used 2009 Honda Fit Sport listed for $14,991 with 512 miles listed on a odo.

If that odo reading is not a typo on the site and I was ready I would drop by and negotiate hard with them on that one.

However, picture of the odo indicates 55363. Nope, not interested.

well, the dealer selling the used called this morning before we headed out to buy the new... they were willing to drop the price down further. ended up paying 15k otd including tax and reg through mar of 2012. i have the remainder of the factory warranty plus a 2 year/100k powertrain warranty from the dealer. came with a couple free oil changes, free 25mi towing as long as you own the car, free car wash for LIFE!! their car wash is nice because it's brushless. decided to just put a hugh chunk down and was able to finance the rest with my credit union for 60 @ 3.15% apr but plan to pay it off in a year.

car came with factory floormats, honda armrest, trunk cabin cover so i saved a couple of hundred because i planned on putting those parts in anyways.

all in all, i think i did ok.

I'm confused.. in what way did they drop the price? I thought you said it was $13,500 plus taxes and fees of "fees = tax ($1200), vehicle transfer of ownership fee ($15) and doc fee ($55)" which equals 14770. How is 15k otd better?

Free touchless carwash would be awesome here in the northeast. Ive had the car a month and have ran it through 3 times in order to get all the salt off of it. Its not the greatest wash but does a good job getting most of the crud off.

miscalculated the original selling price since i was working on the OTD price the whole time. the original OTD price i had was 15.5k so they dropped 500.

it convinced me to buy from them. i live 5min away from that dealer and pass them on the way home everyday from work. i can wash the car everyday if i wanted. i normally hand wash all my cars but this will work well during winter because this car is going to be outside. i have a 3-car garage but this is our 4th vehicle.

AWESOME , Congrats on the 2009 post some pics!
is that the Silver Storm Metallic Sport?to be honest, the 09 and 10 are the EXACT same car, so if you're saving $2500-3000, on an 09 i would do it.
2011 has a few more standard options, but it looks like 2012 the car will get a minor facelift and possibly the hybrid, RS and 6MT.
There's a lot more competition coming in the compact high quality yet sporty segment. People want a car that's great on gas yet fun to drive and lots of room. The Honda fit is still the leader in this category.

got mine yesterday 2010 model pre-own from private owner for $10,500, no tax, fee, and only $38 for registration. The bumper was replaced but all looks new and everything functional. From what I looked at don't see any engine damage from collision. It's only 8,000 mile. I hope this is a good deal.
