Come to think of it, what's preventing them from designing the new engines to also accommodate IMA, which if kept, would still make it a hybrid. Just a turbo hybrid. 
Of course, it's an excellent little car to make their new hot hatches out of - not really surprised there at all - just thought this car was going to be all about "hybrid sports."
We'll see. Interesting either way. Maybe they will come up with a good enough value to offer us a hot version.

The new engine will be fitted with variable technology for opening and closing valves VTEC-I. It is expected that the new engine made its debut in the CR-Z Hybrid Type R in the middle of 2011.
