Blue HID's?

You should talk about HIDs in the lighting section.
In any case, HIDs are listed via "color temperature" Kelvin rating. No, its not an actual temperature of the HID, its a scale for color... with blue in the 8000K and higher.
Depending on the manufacturer, veryl light blue can actually range from 6000k to 10000k (even 12000k). Some manufacturers are more blue by 10000k or even a touch of purple.
So, when buying HIDs, try to find a Kelvin chart on the site you are shopping at to get an idea of which rating you should get.
When I was using HIDs on the Nissan Pathfinder, 10000k gave me a nice white with a touch of blue. But considering the comments made by my passengers, I might be colorblind (they say the blue/purple was more pronounced). :s

You guys should think about the other drivers that you blind with your cheap aftermarket headlights. The only ones that are not offensive to other drivers are OEM. The headlights that come with the car do the job well.

ya very bright hid's can blind other drivers without Headlight Retrofitting, if u are just going to use the hid kit with the stock headlight housings, i would recommend 35w 4300k, which wont blind others and dramatically increase visibility compared to stock bulbs

Plus, in real darkness, they lower your visibility over standard Halogen bulbs.
Oh... and blue is illegal due to being the color used by emergency vehicles. OP probably should go with 6000K bulbs (in retrofitted projectors)
Then again, He's in Vegas. If he never leaves the city, no one would ever know... it's like driving in daylight with all of those city lights on...

Many OEM HID's are self leveling to minimize blinding other drivers. I am coming off 3 1/2 of BMW HID's that both level and swivel on curves. I felt that the light they put out was like the sun. I am finding that the headlights on my Fit are very bright, and do a very good job of illuminating the road. That's the idea isn't it? Illumination? For some it seems it's more about show than function. All I'm saying is, you're being obnoxious so you can look cool. As someone else also pointed out, sometimes they actually do a poor job of illumination (aftermarket HID's).

Blue light tends to scatter more and is harder for the human eye to see. For an exaggerated example, look at a blue storefront sign at night and notice how much harder it is to read compared to almost any other color. You will notice this while driving when there's moisture in the air or on the glass because the blue light tends to light it all up, blinding you because your iris doesn't close down as a reaction. When a light that is more of the usual halogen color shines on the same moisture, it scatters and glares less, thus the reason real fog lights are amber or yellow.

Don't go outside of the city into dark areas at night as a 10k K HID will likely be much worse (visibility-wise) than the stock halogen bulbs.

Why is everybody so worried about this guys ability to see at night? I would say that regardless of where you are there will either be street lights or no lights and with no light any headlights are going to give you enough light to see. He lives in Nevada there is no snow it hardly rains and there is little chance of dust storms in the city. I'm starting to think you are all cops or really old people. Blue HIDs are no more dangerous than lowering springs, CAIs, exhaust systems, turbo/supercharger kits, and any other mod you can think of. He doesn't care if he can see at night the HID simply looks better than halogen, most of us up-beat youngsters agree with this.

Yes hids do look better. But in my opinion, blue looks ricy/trashy/ghetto. 6k is your best bet.
And every hid is illegal, unless your headlight is either retrofitted with projectors or you have projector headlights. It doesn't matter about the color.

It's not about his ability to see at night, but rather our ability to see at night when he is coming at us. Headlights are not for show. While some aftermarket headlights/headlight mods are not offensive, some are downright blinding to other drivers. When you drive on a public road that you share with other drivers, you need to be in compliance. Do not compare these blue HID's to other mods. If you want HID headlights,do it right. There's a reason why they're pricey as an OEM option. There is no reason I should have to put up with bright headlights or earth shattering bass levels because some people have nothing to do with their money. Driving is a regulated privilege and not a personal right that you are born with.
So you are assuming that he will be offensive and blinding... or maybe his fit is a show car and not driving anywhere. Also I can compare HIDs to other mods because anything that modifies a vehicle can fail due to inproper installation and endanger my life on the road. Regardless when you drive you are responsible for controlling your vehicle under any circumstance so just learn to deal. If you remember correctly there is a question on the drivers exam about how to properly deal with bright oncoming lights. It's life... other people are in it! So you do have to put up with bright headlights and earth shattering bass.

You are an ass! I know how to deal with another driver's bright lights, but we are talking about a purposeful tampering with headlights for show purposes. If the car is only for show that's fine. I highly doubt that someone's Fit is strictly for show purposes. It may be life, but no driver has to "put up" with modified bright lights that are not within legal specs. There are legal limits for radio volume in many places. It's not a free for all on the road.I am a professional driver and see alot of things on the road. Keeping your vehicle maintained is every driver's obligation. This affects the safety of all drivers on the road. I am done with this discussion.
Bummer it had to come to name calling. Anyhow a large percentage of this website is about personal expression through this little car so let people express themselves. You are entitled to your opinion but don't call people names or tell people they are obnoxious for how they want their car to look. If you dont like being blinded by the light dont listen to Manfred Mann and dont drive at night otherwise you may be subjected to bright lights and loud radio volume!
