Question about break in period.

So I am buying a new 2010 Fit Sport M/T soon but the thing is that the color I want is 100 miles away. The dealership is going to have a professional driver drive it over here.

My question/concern is...They say you shouldn't keep a car at a constant speed/gear during the break in period. The driver will probably mostly be driving on the freeway at a constant speed in 5th gear. Should I be concerned?

Well, the owner's manual just says to avoid excessive breaking and high revs. In addition, the engine itself is broken in at the factory.

It will be driven over here by a driver. It will cost significantly more to have it delivered by a truck. It will be too much of a hassle for me to drive 100 miles there to get the car and then 100 miles back.

The trend these days is for the buyer to fly out to the dealer, make a mini vacation by spending some time there, then driving home.

Personally, I wouldn't trust anyone to drive my new car, esp for that many miles.

Professional driver ? LMAO. Some old retired guy like me driving the shit out of your new car.

I doubt very much if that 100 mile drive is going to do anything to affect the car. You will likely do worse in your first 100 miles.

Oh when I picked mine up I drove it 50 miles either way on freeway at speed limits. It is just fine.

If your worried, which you should be because it is going to be YOUR car. Just pay the extra bucks/hassle and get it done right the way YOU want. Just to keep some peace in your mind.
and lol at professional driver.

if they want to sell the car, they will deliver it on a flatbed truck as part of the price. It can't be that costly that the deaership can't find a way to make up that cost.

I personally would not want to take delivery on a car with "100" plus miles on it, called "new" without driving it off the lot myself.

How many miles is the break in period. I will be picking up my new 2010 Fit Sport on Tuesday. Plastic wrapping is still on the wheels. It has not moved since coming off the truck.

600m for low engine revs, 200m for avoiding hard breaking.
