ugh hit a raccoon

@ 80mph... a big one.

front bumper has a small crack in it that I can live with.... but the a/c radiator is mangled, radiator has some damage and is knocked off its mount.... but worst of all the whole front subframe is bent up a good 2 inches.

FML, my car just got out of the shop from a valet driver broadsiding me.

U's kurst!!!

Well, it doesn't help that you're going 80mph!!! Were you at least on the highway? If not, I hope NEVER to see you.

The faster anything is going, the more it's going to affect what it hits... or in your case, at acted as if the object you hit was rocketed at you.

But to bend the subframe?!? hum...

Oh man! I remember the reckless parking valet from a while back. An animal can do a surprising amount of damage to a car. I've been lucky with cars in this regard, but 15 years ago I was riding a little Honda CB250 motorcycle at night and a possum darted out of the shadows right in front of my bike. The whole bike went airborne but fortunately I nailed the landing. Was this incident also at night/dusk?

Smile

Did you pick up the dead raccoon and make a hat out of it?

If anyone needs raccoons I have them here to spare. I'll throw in a skunk at no charge.

Cheers.

We have an unusual high number of raccoon carcasses per mile this year also... Critters get suicidal in the Fall.... When you say sub frame are you referring the rectangular vertical beam that is topped with a shorter 8"or 10" beam that the foam piece mounts on... If so it is easily straightened.... The armadillos are hell right now and this is the first time in years I have seen as many coyotes and dogs that have been hit and splattered on the road.. A guy behind me in a big 1ton truck had a turkey buzzard dive into his grill a few day ago.

I saw a police officer stop traffic on the freeway yesterday to drag a deer carcass off the road, it had jumped the traffic barrier fence and ended up on the middle of the 8 lane freeway.

Hitting a racoon at 80 is about the same as hitting a bowling ball at lower speeds. Yeah, it's gonna eff sh1t up.

Ah man sorry for your luck.

I feel your pain. Every morning is like an obstacle course with critters on the one back road I take to work. Not to mention I'm lowered so that just makes it more of a threat.

Hope you are able to get it fixed.

I too was the victim of a raccoon but my fit ate him up and spit him out the bottom only slightly bending the condensor. All DIY repairable. I personaly am hoping for a deer to leap in front of me, so long as I am unharmed. Looking for any excuse to total the car and get one of them '11 v6 stangs. O to own a car that actually have an aftermarket.

Sorry to hear about your car but glad it did not get too much damage - it can always be worse. We have way too many dang deer here in WV and that is one reason I stay away from certain parts of the state during deer
season!

There are an abundance of suicidal deer down here that could provide you with what you are hoping for... Everyone that has lived in this area for any length of time has hit at least one.... They do tend to shy away from cars with a very loud exhaust turning high revs which is why I haven't hit one in 15 years.
