My son and the Fit

My son and the Fit
I took my son over to a friend's house so "the band" could get together and jam. He loaded up his entire drum set, a guitar and bass and his massive amp. It was then that he said he needs a Fit when he gets his first car.

I hope he's saving his pennies! If he's willing to do sundry repairs (brakes, etc.) himself, He'd save some money buying a late 90's era Buick with 70- 120k on it for a under $1,500. Safe, comfortable, lower insurance bill (liability-only will do). Half the time kids bang up their first car anyway.

Hey the fit is my first car. I bought it as my high school graduation present to myself and I am paying the note on it right now. Up until I bought it I just drove one of my parent's cars when I needed to.
Now as for storage room it is amazing. I had to transport 3 adult sized bicycles over the summer and when the strain was too much for the hatch mounted bike rack. I just put the seats down and threw two in the back. Everyone around when i did that was amazed that i could fit two large bikes in the back of my little red car. I absolutely love that i can hold that much stuff and still be impressive on the mpgs and performance.

Excellent, Jamy. By my earlier post I didn't mean that a young person shoudn't have a new car. If you're making payments, that will build your credit rating as well as your discipline. Personally, I loved driving old heaps as a kid and socking away the money I saved, but I'm thrifty (read: cheap).

I wasn't quite sure the way you were coming off. I too like the old cars, BUT the favorite of mine that i usually drove was my dad's 1995 BMW 540i that I spent a whole week one summer putting performance parts on to unleash the monster V8 that thing had. Granted going to a fit was a performance and luxury kick. I do love being able to have so much room and being able to do a respectable 0-60 in the mid 8's PLUS getting almost 35 mpg on the highway. Can't beat it. What I would have saved in buy the BMW from my dad I would be paying in gas money seeing as the car runs on premium and only gets around 23 if your lucky.
