2007 Fit Snow Tires 185/65-15

I have read do much here today I have to just ask my question straight out.

I have faithfully run 195/55/15 on my 2007 Fit Sport. 4 sets and 215,000 miles.

I have a chance to get a set of Snow Tires 185/65/15.

Can I put these on my rims and run safely?

Thanks

185/65R15 BFG Winter Slalom is what I am running on my 09 Fit Sport. See no reason why would not work for you.

The 185/65x15 tires are a full inch bigger in diameter but about 3/8" (10 mm ) narrower than 195/55x15's. I think they are too big in diameter to fit without rubbing on an 07; the narrow diameter may just let it get by but it will be very close. 175/65x15's work very well.

I'm running that size on my winters as well but I too have a GE8 (2009+ FIT). I think they'd probably work but would recommend using a smaller profile like a 185/60/15 which is only .2" taller than your current tire. I'm running .25" taller than stock with no issues so I don't think you'd run into any issues running .2 taller. It also gives you a little bit more lift which is nice in the winter.

Are you getting these 185/65/15" tires second hand or new?

Your best bet is to ask in the GD forum (2008 and earlier) as the best answer it seems here is "I don't know" as they May work but they are taller than what would be recommended. It'll throw your speedometer/odometer off, might rub, and will make the car feel very mushy when steering. There's probably not a safety hazard but in my opinion, is not a great choice. They'd be good if you had a 2009+ fit but I wouldn't recommend it for 2008 or earlier.

Again, are you getting these for free? if you have to pay, I wouldn't even consider it. If they are free; depending on the make/model/tread depth/number of years on the previous vehicle, I might consider.

I am getting them used for free. But free makes no sense if they are too much of a compromise.

Check the GD forums to see if anyone there is running that size. the height increase would be nice but I'm not sure if it'll fit in the wheel well without rubbing. If you aren't lowered, I'd guess it would fit.

Are most of you switching tires instead of wheels and tires?

2009 & 2010 Non-Navi: Switch Tires & Wheels (No VSA to worry about)
Navi & all 2011-2012: switch tires (due to VSA limitations without TPMS sensors)

Unfortunately there's no cheap/easy way to reprogram your TPMS system with new sensors so it's a more expensive tool you need to buy or a trip to the dealer each time you swap out wheels when you have TPMS sensors installed in your aftermarket wheels.

We got NADA... ZILCH.... ok... so we got maybe 1/4" but it's all pretty much melted. What a bust. My parents got somewhere between 3" and 7" in NJ depending on whether you talk to my mom or Dad and they currently are without power. WET HEAVY SNOW. We must have been too far north and west to get really anything. Oh Well, Doesn't really bother me. We'll have plenty this winter. could have kept the all seasons on for another week or so (Almost at the wear bars so it's probably a smart move to have swapped them yesterday) Now to consider the DWS or a more dedicated summer tire. Waiting for a sale

My sis is down in Croton on Hudson and they're out on power too. Cut off was sharp, Bangor saw 2".

Go DWS - I'm heading there soon and pulling the Duns. Too close to the bars to consider this winter and those sound like the best choice - save dedicated snows, but why start something I've always avoided.
