Install Cabin Filter
So all the cabin filter install guides seemed to mostly be about the 1st gen fit... at least the ones with pics. So I took some pics of the DIY process on a 2009 Fit Sport and posted in on my blog. Enjoy!

No the filter just gets dirty. After 40k miles ours was pretty gross.
It's just a standard paper type filter. Some other threads say you take a nicer "hi tech" home AC filter and cut it to size for more efficient filter flow and get 3 filters out of the big one such. But I didn't want to mess with all that so I just used the one from Auto Zone.

Like all filters they finally coat up with contaminants and have to be vacumed or replaced, mostly the latter.

Cabin Air filter replacement DIY
skuban!
Thanks man! Nice simple "how to do it" with good pics.
We just got our 09 Fit Sport. The previous owner had left a bunch of those
smelly evergreen-tree-shaped car "deodorizers" in it after he cleaned it before
I looked at it the first time. As soon as I bought the car, I threw those things OUT! After 3 weeks the interior air is almost neutral again except when I turn on the air handler system. Arrrggghhhh! Smelly-evergreen-tree-deodorizer smell... (SETDS).
Although I've found in the service records that show the filter was replaced at about 10k mi. and the car now has 27k mi., I ordered a new filter from Majestic Honda and now with your help, am fully equipped to take on the dreaded SETDS!
BTW, what part of TN are you occupying?
Cheers & Blessings,

I would go back and complain. If they don't want to refund any money I would inform you will escalate complaint to US Honda. I'm sure Honda has a book rated time established for that job, probably no more than .25 hr. Looks like the dealer charging you for almost an hour labor.

I agree that is outright criminal.

it would be interesting to see what other honda dealers are charging for the filter and installation. i'm gonna call a few just to see. i think all of them will be a rip off.
complaining to honda america is a good idea.
