You need to go ahead and get foglight film for your replacements.

I recommend the film from Headlight Armor. At around $18 its one of the best investments you can buy for the fit.

I have had it on my car for it's entire life span (2.5 years) and haven't worried once about a shattered lens.

Their film is thick and cushy but invisible once installed.

I have some already on the way. I originally bought it for my current lights but they were too far gone. Would Chicken wire be over-kill?

Will a dealer fix this? I don't mind paying for it to be fixed if it's not covered so that's fine but what else can I get from the dealer (possible Honda accessory) that will protect the fog lights from this happening again?
Funny I did not pass PA state inspection today for my 2009 Honda Fit Sports due to the crack on the plastic cover over my fog light. The light is working. I did not notice the crack on the plastic surface until the dealer pointed it out. The dealer asked for $500 for replace and install. Few months ago, I have installed the driver side of fog light assembly because the light no longer works. The part is $105 on Amazon and $85 on EBay. The installation is easy after I saw the Youtube video on how-to. Takes 2 minutes to unscrew the only one screw. I have ordered the part (passenger side fog light assembly this time). Note $105 part is not made by Honda but it works great and $500 part is genuine Honda OEM part. Still too rich for me, especially I am going to replace my car very soon. Not going to spend $500 on the foggy light that still works. Just PA state inspection requires no crack on the plastic. Although after I search on Internet, I can pass the inspection if I remove BOTH fog lights before inspection because fog lights are considered decorative lights. The is for annual state inspection. For enhanced state inspection, all original parts need be working.

Ours were both broken when we got the car, so I designed some mesh inserts for 3-D printing and glued them into the hole. You can grab the files here:
