Price advice on a Fit Sport w/nav
Hi,
New to the forums here. Have been lurking for a few weeks now, and am on the verge of buying a 2010 Sport w/navigation.
I've only been to a few dealers, and wanted to go on here to see if others who had recently bought could share their price, or offer up a good ballpark for what I should be asking. This is my first car purchase, and as helpful as many of the car buying advice columns I've read have been, the Fit has proven to be a rather unique challenge in that it's pretty inexpensive, the dealer profit margin is very slim, and the model we're looking at is a bit on the rare side.
So without further ado, here's what we're going for:
2010 fit sport /nav package in Blackberry Pearl color.
w/destination charge, and dealer paperwork b.s. it's $19,680
On top of that we have 3 extras:
These come out to $985 including labor.
Grand total is $23,500 including CA tax. Any suggestions?

well if you wait till the 2011 model it will come with floor mats for free (bastards) and the price seems right if you are just looking to pay straight up. you got to haggle with them a bit and get them to sell it to you out the door for cheaper.
when i went to buy my 2010 fit they were asking 20k for a normal TW sport fit, only cause it had a sunroof installed. it was cool but not really needed cause i didnt care for it much but it was the only white one they had and long story short i got them to do 17.5 out the door.

Tarengo: that price is pretty high for a fit in my opinion. for that price, you can get a Civic or an Accord.
To be honest, I would wait till 2011 when they have free floor mats included along with Vehicle Stability Assist standard. Also, the navigation on Hondas are average at best...save yourself some money and buy a Garmin. And trust me, the navigation will not be a selling point in the future if you plan on selling the vehicle..because the maps and technology will be out of date.
i got my 2009 White Sport Manual brand new for 16,800 out the door.

Thank you both for the quick replies! Sounds like it's worth trying to bargain the dealer down as far as possible--pointing out that several of the features will be standard in the next model, which is just around the corner.
During our test drives and chats with various dealers, they all shirked off our reservations of waiting for an '11 model since the two would be "just a model year change" with no interior changes.
As for waiting though, we're definitely trying to pick this up before the holidays since we'll be doing lots of interstate road tripping, and would like to do it in a slightly larger car than our current '97 Civic coupe.

I've looked around a bit and it seems there are very few 2010 Sports w/navigation available.
I'm trying to hold out for the 2011 Sport because it will come with stability control, and I don't care about the navigation.
If it's a car they have available you should try to ask them to come down on it, because I don't think there has been that much demand for that model.

New Cars Pricing and Comparisons Local, Regional and National Car Price Reports at TrueCar or edumunds.com can give you a good price reference.
If anything you could lease a 2010. $0 down, $210/month for a Base Fit. Toss in a Garmin.

I have read that the 2011 will also have a center armrest standard, as well as floor mats, and VSC. With just those three options thrown in, I think I'll wait until the 2011's show up. Go for the Garmin vs. the built in GPS. Prior posters were correct in that the built in units are very overpriced and will bring you next to zero at trade in time. But if you want to spend the money, then heck, buy two Garmins for the price, keep one and mail the other to me. I'll pay the postage.

If purchasing, without a great deal, I would wait for a 2011 model.

OP, Skip the navi on a 2011 as you can get a MUCH better Garmin unit for a lot less money. someone else has a thread similar to this and I figured out that if you were to buy a good garmin Navi you can get lifetime updates for free (which you have to pay for from honda and are MUCH less often) You could also add on a Parrot Bluetooth kit that will handle your iPod and bluetooth needs. Then pick up the best Radar on the market (V1) and save $1000 after all is said and done. That would pay for the Extras you are looking at and you would end up with an overall MUCH better setup.
Honda NAVI's are Adequate at best and to pay $2000 for it is not worthwhile when you can get a Garmin Nuvi with lifetime maps and a 5" screen for $270 - Some of the Nuvi's also have bluetooth (but the parrot will do a better job & have iPod Control as well.)

why don't you checkout this guys 2009 Honda fit sport with Navi
he lives in Houston, and its on ebay
if you got it for 10,500 or 11,000 that would be a pretty decent deal!

I just got my BSP NAVI for 20 even w/B.S. but w/o tax, same options and cargo cover. My dealing was on the back end though. Labor for the parts is effectively free, no matter what they tell you... They can eat it, and if they want the deal, they will.
Years ago Honda called accessories "Successories" and were the thing that they wheeled with you on. After my negotiations Friday, I think they probably still work it that way...

Yea why pay that much for a Fit?? This car is suposed to be a Econo car for that much ur looking at civic SI, Accords. My sugestion buy a nice used one and save some cash. Really almost $24k for a Fit is silly to me. You my friend can get a nice new GTI for that price that has a much nicer interior and way faster. But it does have a little less room inside. I love the Fit but would never pay close to $20k for this car thats just me though
