aftermarket support for ge8

I know that the GE8 has terrible aftermarket support at the moment compared to the GD3, but I can't help but to wonder if it really will get better in the future.

I know most companies right now have no plans what so ever for the GE8 due to low demands and what not; but the GD3 only has 2 years of production in the U.S. Meanwhile the GE8 also has two years and will continue to have the GE8 model till who knows when.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, there is only a limited number of GD3s in the U.S. while the market for GE8 will continue to grow. Is it not possible that GE8 will get the aftermarket support it deserves since the market for the GE8 will continue to grow?

Just wanted to throw my thoughts out there.

I think it will improve for certain things, but for performance mods there needs to be a greater demand from modders themselves. Another words for every 10 fit bought I probably think only 1 gets modded. So I think its hard to judge support from venders based on Honda sales because not everyone wants a turbo or SC kit for what is essentially a commuter car.

Just have to hope whatever is made for the CR-Z can be used on the GE as well. Unfortunately, the CR-Z is going to get all the aftermarket support right now.

Yeah, our hope right now is with the CR-Z. I mean look, they brought out rims that are to our offset with a 4x100 bolt pattern. Might have a supercharger too. We'll have to see.

yea...i hear you man. i contacted passwordjdm.com about a week ago, and they told me they weren't doing anything else for the fit, due to no interest, or demand. i'm kinda pissed, but what can i do? save and drop a K20........

i know that spoon and j's racing have their own company modded ge8s. i know in japan they have decent ge8 parts support from the aftermarket tuners. its just us in the US and everywhere else not near asia get screwed over on parts.

i know in thailand and indonesia they have bolt on turbos and most tuning support from japan. we here dont have ecu tuning, no turbo, no compressor, no dedicated 3rd party aero tuning besides jdp's carbon lip and oem mugen aero styling.

only if we got the jdm ge8 direct instead of the strict crash tested usdm version we are stuck with.

You're right, but since the offset it the same with our cars (it's built on the Fit platform) all the wheel manufactures got to change on the wheel is the bolt pattern, not hard at all.

Aftermarket parts for the GD didn't exactly fly off the shelves. The sales simply didn't live up to the hype. Because most GD owners didn't spend their paychecks on parts, most manufacturers now are hesitant to invest in producing GE parts.

Aye, the fit is defintely a DIY OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL kind of car. Only option for the next year or 2 will probably be aem fic and turbo or rotrex of your choice. 5,000 mininum. Well, there always nitrous but damn do those refills get expensive.

I have little faith in the CRZ. Let's say a production turbo kit comes out for $4000. Well rest assured you can add on another $1000 mininum to retrofit it to the fit. You will have to make your own downpipe, new intake filter plumbing and new coldside plumbing to the intake manifold, and a tuning session to adjust whatever tune came for the crz. IT IS HOPELESS Supercharger brackets will probably never matchup and even if they do they probably wont have clearance and even if they do, nobody will ever spend the money to find out and don't forget about that dreaded plumbing and tune. IT IS HOPELESS

When is that giant suv going to rear-end me and put me out of my misery already? Maybe I need to start making all my turns off the road super slow so I increase the odds.

hmm all of your posts make a lot of sense, although i do not intend to do major modifications to my car such as sc or turbo; i do want to see awesomely modded fits out there ^^

but if an sc does come out for the ge8, i would probably consider it depending on my cash flows. extra hp for low mpg lost sounds like an awesome deal to me
